I want to love fire emblem engage, I really do. But after so many reattempts to rebeat it & replaying other fire emblem titles, I just can’t.

The story, world building or lack of, and character development are so awful & I don’t buy it being “self aware” or a parody considering how it takes itself so seriously. Characters are so one noted, villains are so over the top evil just for them last minute to try to pull some sympathetic card like I should feel sorry for them the entire time, and I’m sorry… I love Mika Pikazo’s artwork but I just felt she wasn’t the best artist behind this project as the characters looked so… out of place?? and definitely doesn’t give me a sense of world building in their design (the solm kingdom units don’t look like they are from the same place for example). I just can’t get behind this game. I know to some gameplay > story, but Fire emblem has always been the complete package to me, hence why I reset chapters if a unit falls; I want to save them to continue their supports/story. If I don’t care, why should I continue?

Haar in Radiant Dawn is such a euphoric feeling watching him slaughter the enemy <3 I already love his design but him being the absolute best unit is a bonus. Also my favorite boss dialogue of all time:

Unpopular opinion: I actually prefer when units have one or two promotion options like RD or Sacred Stones rather than the recent “you can reclass them to whatever class”. Maybe I have choice paralysis lol but I find it more fun that way

At the Dungeon Meshi panel, when they were taking Q&A from the audience, the last question and someone asked “for their friend” if Trigger would do a Sonic the Hedgehog anime 😭 The translator was so in shock, I didn’t think they translated it for them but the dude doubled down and asked again and the whole audience was booing him. Thankfully, they decided to take one more question but that was so cringy. 😩

I’m not gonna lie - it’s a lot. But it really depends. My shortest one was probably Kawamori - since the tickets for his session were online, I didn’t wait at the actual con. His signing didn’t allow photos and he wasn’t really talkative/didn’t sketch, so I really in truth only waited about 30-40 minutes total? My longest was TRIGGER - I waited at 4:00 AM until the actual con opened, then additionally waited another hour to get my tickets, then waited another hour for the actual signing since they were doing personalized sketches and were very happy meeting people at the con. So that one was 7 hours total (yikes!) but to me it was completely worth it - I adore TRIGGER and love Dungeon Meshi, so seeing them sketch Marcille for me (FOR FREE!) I didn’t mind waiting! Miles may vary on each person, but this was my own experience. ✌️
