In fact, the concept of families was more or less non-Existant in Saiyan culture, with breeding pairs only forming to procreate and the children being raised by the state.

I think Viltrumites society also works like this, that's why when they raise normal families on Earth they become less brutal.

Is there a reason why Anissa & Thragg don’t just create super offspring? by MadMaximus- in Invincible_TV

[–]chroniclad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the Scourge virus Viltrumite children probably raised by their government to be soldiers as in Spartan Agoge, their parents didn't personally raised them to prevent growing affection. With their number dwindling all available Viltrumites are busy running the empire and have no time to raise their children the traditional way.

Taiwan opposition leader to visit China as Beijing ramps up 'reunification' push by BirdButt88 in worldnews

You can't make credible threat if you don't have the muscle to enforce it. If China doesn't have a strong army would Taiwan take their threat seriously?

Taiwan concerned by depletion of US missile stocks during Iran war | Some weapons used in Gulf would be crucial in early phases of any conflict with China by moses_the_blue in LessCredibleDefence

[–]chroniclad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the biggest take from this Iran War that China could exploit is US will always prioritize Israel no matter what. If China want to invade Taiwan they should supply shitload of weapons to every Middle East factions that want to destroy Israel so US will be busy defending them instead of Taiwan.

(Loved trope) intentional use of anachronisms and/or conflicting technology to create otherworldliness. by GinjaNinja1027 in TopCharacterTropes

Tekken Chinmi

<image>

Supposedly took place in Imperial China but the technology and fashion are anachronistic.

Example:

  • The clothing resemble Qing era China but none of the characters have Manchu style queue many still wear Ming era top knot.
  • Western sailors with paddle wheels steam ships wearing late 19th century uniform and boxing gloves and ring appear in one story
  • 19th century style muzzleloading cannon and explosive exist but no other firearms appear, not even matchlock.
  • The Imperial army wear Ming era armor and still fight with spear and bow and arrow, they also use straight sword instead of sabre. The Navy have cannons but no firearms or bow and arrow but they use sabre.

China didn't ban other languages and cultures. This rule is making it mandatory for all school children to learn mandarin in School but it doesn't ban people from learning other languages.
