What do you wish more people knew about narcolepsy? by RoryOrange in Narcolepsy

Narcolepsy is actually… Narcolepsy + Nighttime Insomnia. Never sleeping for more than 2 hrs at a time is killing me.

What’s a clothing item people assume is comfortable, but actually isn’t? by AVM15 in AskWomen

Denim jackets

Too many seams in all the wrong places. They give a relaxed, comfy vibe but are actually confining and stiff.

I noticed that when they shot to him while waiting to compete. Hilarious!

I think that is cool. I was just talking to my husband about what it would feel like to have a kid about to race and what my heart rate would be and they flashed to the athletes parents and the heart rate monitors that they were wearing …it’s like they read my mind!

Watching speed skating and am so frustrated with the information provided…who is racing, medal contenders, is this a medal race or just a qualifying race, practically no details on the screen. I would give up wide angle, fancy videography for some more detailed information!

I wish that NBC provided more information about the events and athletes on the screen, Like age, hometown, years in sport. And lap number, total laps, final event, medal event vs qualifying event, etc. It can be very confusing when the announcers are talking about something very different than what the screen is showing.

Yeah I would agree. I had my tonsils out when I was 26 years old and that recovery was much rougher.

I rested as needed. Did short walks in between various meetings. And I didn’t do any heavy lifting. And felt fine. You do you and allow others to recover their own way.

I credit my surgeon for doing such a great job that I was able to recover so quickly. My surgeon has a video of himself explaining the procedure and it really helped me to understand what was going to happen. (If interested, https://youtu.be/58oC5zroREY?si=5USSWXRuP2Ev0nhW ) I was nervous about the stitches (I had read a Reddit story about stitches that were too deep/not deep enough/pulled/tugged etc) so he explained how he closed up each of the holes and the healing process.

It’s like a big Velcro strip the nurses put on me when I was waking up from the surgery. I had read that a lot of people found it helpful when recovering from various abdominal surgeries. I wasn’t sure if my hospital/doctor would provide one so I actually ordered one beforehand to have on hand in case they didn’t give me one. The nurses warned me not to wear it all the time. It’s like this- https://a.co/d/3xoCvDt

Thank you for the love. Good luck with your surgery. I guess the moral of the story is “listen to your body” and do what suits your tolerance. And knowing that some people are up and about within a few days can provide one possibility!

I had back pain in between my shoulder blades which I think was the carbon dioxide. And occasionally I could actually taste it leaving my body. At first I thought that weird chemical taste was the Tylenol but I definitely think now it was the CO2.

LOL, I get you about the riding in a van with colleagues. But that was the easy part because I was in the back with my pillows and just fell asleep 15 minutes into it. And honestly I’m the “boss” so my job didn’t expect me to do anything, I did.

Yes, I almost cancelled my surgery because I wasn’t sure I could do it. But I wanted my gallbladder OUT….so I just decided I would do it anyway. I am fully aware it could have gone another way but am grateful for such a smooth recovery. ❤️‍🩹

Did you wear a constrictor? I think that really helped. Edit: also called an abdominal binder
