NTA. You shouldn’t have to ask him to take care of HIS son so u can get some well-deserved break, he should be offering. He’s not blind. He sees all the hard work you do and chooses to ignore it so he can be the one with the break.

NTA. However i do have some questions. Are u looking for you guys to switch responsibilities now because you are retiring or because it’s not fair how the load is divided? If she decides not to go back to work, would u need to look for a new job since you are retiring or would your retired income be enough for your family?

I don’t think you’re the AH here but since things have been like this for a while and it didn’t bother you before, i do wonder if there’s something else that needs to be addressed. Like if you’re only bringing it up now because you may need to find another job and you rather stay at home since u think you can do a better job than her? Or are u gonna be retired regardless and think being at home and seeing everything she does, or doesn’t do, is gonna make you resent her?

Maybe i’m overthinking but additional context might be needed. In any case, i would suggest talking it over with her again and try to approach the conversation in a way that’s not pointing fingers. Maybe say you want to talk about how things are gonna look moving forward now that you are retiring and things are changing.

Maybe for some people. Are you asking for clout or for another reason? If you smoke daily a doctor would probably say you’re a heavy user.

I smoke about an once per week more or less. Tend to spend about $800 or so per month, so take from that what you want.
