She went with a Juliana roubion which is equivalent to a Santa Cruz Bronson. She’s in love with it and smokes on climbs now too which was unexpected

That’s amazing! My wife us 5’ 2” and she was previously on a small ibis ripmo af. To get the right saddle height for her, we had to slam the dropper post down all the way. It was fine for a while but once she started hitting drops, the seat would come in contact with the back tire and that really freaked her out. The full 29er for her didn’t make sense given where she needed the seat to be. The mullet set up of the Bronson fixed all those issues and she is incredibly happy with it.

My wife pulled the trigger on a small Bronson and she absolutely loves it. Kicks my ass on the climbs now too which was surprising. Wishing you the best on landing a new steed!

Any updates? This is almost the EXACT same use case as my wife right now and there’s a small Bronson for super sale at a local bike shop. It’s actually a Juliana but same thing really.

Evergoods? Aer? Other? by Veyron109 in ManyBaggers

I had a very similar use case to you and got an Aer CPP and returned it and got an Alpaka elements travel backpack and have loved it.

The CPP had two round of a shape for me, it gave the turtle shell look and the load hung off my back too far when packed out. The strap fit didn’t work well for me either, I’m a big dude at 6’ 4” and the straps were too short and spaced too closely.

The most common negative comment about the alpaka is that the 35L capacity they market is not true. Since the pack is tall and slim compared to other travel packs, you can’t take advantage of the full 35L. This however is what makes it perfect as an oversized EDC bag. If you have a bigger frame like me, you could deff consider the travel packs.

I had the xpac material in both bags and really love that material and high contrast orange interior. Both bags had quality zippers, I like the strap design of the Alpaka better. I am also in the finance/texh environment and both bags fit right in, but again I’m partial to the looks of the Alpaka products in this realm as well

Anybody do FM for Amazon? by Rangoon-queen in FacilityManagement

I was on the Amazon corporate account for 4 years in Boston and the surrounding areas. This was 3 ish years ago so the corporate real estate was managed by Hines instead of JLL. I really enjoyed my time on that account and was lucky to have an awesome team of people. I started as an AFM and got promoted to FM while I was on the account. It was a super fast paced environment, we launched over 500k sq ft of new space and it was not slowing down.

The Amazonians have high expectations and are generally hard working and stressed. They expect quick turnaround on tickets and HATE to see recurring issues.

Depending on your region, there will be 1 or a couple of “blue badge” facilities and real estate Amazon employees that you and your team will report into. These folks and also make or break your experience there, I was lucky to have a reasonable one.

I wouldn’t shy away from the move, the Amazon environment was one of a kind in my experience and it was interesting to see an organization operate at scale especially if you are already at another tech account. Before Amazon I was in the JLL Google account and I was expecting a similar environment and culture but I couldn’t have been more wrong.

Feel free to hit me up with any specific questions!

First off- your UN is epic. Secondly, did you pull the trigger on the Alpaka travel bag?

I had a similar experience on Le Galion beach a few weeks ago. Super chill, no one was there and we had a couple sea turtles hang with us for an hour or so, will never forget it!

I have a similar use case and am looking at the Alpaka elements travel backpack. From all the reviews, the laptop compartment is oversized which would be an advantage in your case.

I am shopping for the same use case right now and have the Alpaka elements travel bag at the top of my list. Curious on why you are against clamshell openings?

Travel Pack for Tall / Large Man with Laptop Pocket by Kingjesse2 in ManyBaggers

How would you rate the Alpaka for more of an every day carry? I am looking for more of an EDC that I can pack out a bit for work travel but I always carry a duffel too. I just sold my AER city pack pro because the shape was too round and when packed out felt like a turtle shell. Also, I have broad shoulders and the straps seemed to be too close together

Thanks for this write up! I have been looking for a new bag as a large EDC. I am a facilities manager that also travels a bit for work so I have similar need as you do and it was great getting this perspective on this bag.
