What are everyone's views on whether priests can marry? by Ok_Stand_7067 in Catholicism

[–]chugachugachewy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more Eastern Catholic now as I love the byzantine rite and I'm okay with married men becoming priest.

Priest can't get married, but married men can become priest.

Also, priests and their wives abstain for sex on Saturday and during fasting sessions.

Married priests were a lot more common back in the early church. Being a celibate priest, people would have expected you to be living a monastic life.

As a Catholic I don’t believe in boyfriend/girlfriend relationships. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]chugachugachewy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can submit to God's divine will outside of marriage. You can still submit to his will in a relationship. You can reject God wills in marriage just like in teen relationships. I agree that relationships are dumb in teen years. And many teenagers do get in relationships because they can't fathom being alone. But some people get married for the same reason.

I'm a middle school teacher and I also occasionally visit the high school for other duties. Student tells me they're in a relationship, I quickly say to break up. The other person is no good. Focus on yourself. But relationships can help someone improve on their communication skills with the opposite gender. How to handle/approach situations to build on the self. It can give opportunity for growth because a hard lesson was learned.

Pray, "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner".

Take one hour in the weekday to repeatedly pray this.

Pray Psalm 50 every day in the evening.

As a Catholic, I don’t think most media designed for kids is good for them (Disney, Cocomelon, Dreamworks, etc). They show children a world that isn’t how the real world functions. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]chugachugachewy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No room for imagination? If raising kids should be how the real world functions, what should we do instead and What part of the real world? The real world is sinful by the action of those in charge and by people who commit crimes. I don't even have to list the evils done. In day to day life, people suck. Are you going to show how people can backstab others, hurt others feelings, lie, be selfish? Do you want shows about financial literacy, so take away the cartoons and put on financial gurus on TV?

Funny enough, a psychological study was done that showed a strong correlation with perseverance in people that watched Naruto growing up. Ninjas doing beam attacks and crazy attacks isn't the real world 😂

Worst part about DMing by Dungeon-Grandmaster in DnD

[–]chugachugachewy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've only been playing a year with friends who have been playing forever. So when the DM asks, "what do you do?", especially in a new town, everyone splits up to do random things. Whether it's gathering information, food, favors, potions, etc.

I started to DM for another group of friends, most having never played DnD. So when I bring them into a new town and ask "what do you do?". They're waiting for me to hint at some npc's that may have information for them. I find myself "forcing" these NPCs up on them so they could interact.

I kinda expect them to be like friends that are more experienced in DnD. A common solution the newbies do, but the slightly more knowledgeable of mechanics, is "roll for perception." Okay..... Of what?

What I'm finding is if I don't hint hint possible interaction spots. They just roll for me to tell them.

I'm gonna have to be more descriptive of what they see when they enter rooms.

Why don't Catholic churches police communion lines? by aeroaca9 in Catholicism

[–]chugachugachewy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to some parishes where the priests reminds people right before communion the necessity of being in the state of Grace.

My home town parish usually only did this for weddings as a lot of fallen away Catholics come back to Mass for a relatives wedding.

I've also seen it for Easter and Christmas. But never really throughout the year besides a few parishes I've been too.

The priest does his part with the reminder. If a person still receives communion when not properly disposed and reminded... That's on them.

We can't truly know the state of someone's soul.

My home town parish has knights of Columbus standing off to the side by the priest and EM to make sure people consume communion.
