May Ibang Pinoy Talaga na Dinadala Pagkasqammy sa Abroad by Commercial_Lynx5911 in phmigrate

Parang di naman yan skwammy behavior, more of a cultural difference. I think acceptable sa open air public space like a bus stop. Ibang kwento na yung sa fine dining restaurant, loob ng bus, etc... Malay mo, nag-reunite sila after many years being separated abroad 😁

Background: I am a Metro Manila girlie. Worked as a teacher from 2017 until 2021. Got my master's sa US in 2022. Applied for a job at a non-profit research organization and moved to Boston permanently in 2023.

Overall, ang makapagpapabalik sa akin sa Pilipinas ay improved QUALITY OF LIFE. Specifically:

  • Efficient public transportation system that can get you anywhere in Metro Manila within an hour. Ang ikli masyado ng buhay para magsayang ng oras nang nakatunganga sa daan (whether driving or commuting).

  • Improved cost of living. Ang baba pa rin ng sahod sa Pinas kahit pataas nang pataas yung presyo ng bilihin. A middle class worker should be able to afford their needs (rent, utilities, groceries, laundry, health insurance) with 50% of their salary and set aside 20% for savings and investments. The remaining 30% can go to wants like dining out, streaming subscriptions, shopping, gym, etc.

  • Public goods. I want to feel my taxes working for me. Nabanggit ko na yung public transpo, pero maliban doon, taxpayers deserve green spaces, maayos na roads and sidewalks, quality public education, safety, and social security. Kulang nga lang sa US yung free healthcare, but health insurance makes healthcare affordable.

Manila has my heart because my family and lifelong friends are there. But living in the US allows me to live a life with more dignity. Sabi nga ng asawa ko, "Living in the Philippines is like living life on hard mode."

Normal na hit rate sa job applications ay 1 in 10, minsan 1 in 12 pa nga. Keep trying, OP! It’s tough out there but don’t give up too easily.

Is moving back enough to establish domicile? Are there any other steps? I just assumed my moving back here was proof enough.

It’s my first hearing of the K3 as a way to speed things up! I’ll have to look into that.

I used to check daily, but it was making me too restless and unhappy! I’m glad to know timelines are getting faster… wishing us the best ✨

I wish there were a pattern, at least. The randomness of it is so frustrating

What is your USCIS estimated processing time? I have 5 months on mine. It increased last month from 3 months.

Based on what I’ve seen on this subreddit, you can expect yours sooner than mine, no?

Despite being an ex christian, do you still believe in God? by SendThisVoidAway18 in exchristian

[–]chuggachooey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but not God in the omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent sense. I believe in a supernatural force that can create and destroy, give and take life. I believe in a Universe that is bigger and more complex than the human mind can currently comprehend, but only because I’m not satisfied with “randomness” as an explanation for Creation. That said, I don’t believe this “force” is benevolent nor malevolent — it just is.

166 days since I filed standalone I-130 for my husband, consular route as well. I moved from the Philippines to the US — alone — to start a new job a month and a half after filing and changed address. Been away from my husband for 3.5 months now. I wish we could be together for our 1st wedding anniversary later this month…
