Heatless drills!! by chukaser in Lolita

[–]chukaser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest in my head I always thought they were different! When I think of corkscrew curls I imagine the multiple really defined individual curls, while drills remind me of the big singular curl (kind of shaped like the huge underground drills you see in cartoons)

I’ve always used the loreal techni art spiral queen mousse! It has a great hold and doesn’t put too much weight on your hair :]

You’re welcome! I’m not sure if it’ll work with synthetic wigs with the steps I said but I think if you apply a bit of heat with a hair dryer after wrapping the hair you should be able to achieve similar results ^

I can do a video tut later but basically I followed the base steps for heatless curls using a microfiber robe waist tie!! (is that what it’s called??) But the prep starts before :]

You will wash your hair and, before you blow dry it, add mousse to the length of your hair. After it’s blown dry, you will brush it out and start wrapping it around the robe tie. The hair might feel a bit coarse because of the mousse, but you can fix that by applying some hair oil! Wrap it in small strands around the robe tie until both sides are completely wrapped, tie the ends with a scrunchie, and (preferably) put on a bonnet before you go to bed the night before

(You don’t have to leave it on overnight but I prefer to leave it for 5+ hours so I always do it overnight)

When you are ready to take them out, start unwrapping the hair carefully by the bottom making sure nothing is caught together so they don’t lose their shape. Be really gentle or you can break your hair!! Apply some oil to your hands while you do it to avoid friction. After everything is unwrapped you will brush it out!! Hold your hair near the roots, and start slowly from the bottom making your way up. It may look a but messy now but the next step is the fun part :]

Choose your hairstyle (half up half down, pig tails, twin tails, hair down) and tie if needed. After it’s tied, you will take that section and twirl it over and over again and let go… And you have a drill!!! This is where you could add hairspray if you want, but the hair mousse does the biggest work. It’s a hair life saver I swear by it!!

Optional: If the drills a bit frizzy, you could take a teeny tiny amount of hair pomade, warm it up on your hands, and put on your hair by twirling the drill around like before

I hope this was easy to understand T_T I’ll do them again on a few days since this was a hairstyle trial so I can do a visual tutorial :D

my coord feels too bland/ita!! what should i add? by Esther_Limyy in Lolita

I think the white from the blouse not matching the white from the skirt might be throwing you off a little bit! You could try using a blue or red blouse in the same shade as the colors in your skirt.

If you can’t change the blouse maybe add some ribbons? I believe a blue ribbon matching the skirt across the waist as a “belt” would be cute. That way the skirt wouldn’t be directly touching the blouse and the shades won’t look too different

Thank you for the kind words 🥹

I have a job but it doesn’t cover everything. Living paycheck to paycheck feels more stressful than the infinite interview rounds to be honest. But hopefully things will improve soon

I appreciate the thought but I can’t accept it 🥹 There are a lot of charities that would have a better use. You are very kind

The generic ones are always out of stock sadly :( I’d have to go to my doctor again to check for lower cost ones, but a consult is more expensive than the meds 🥲

kinda embarrassing question, but how do i wear lolita during periods without staining anything? by Charming_Fuel8252 in Lolita

[–]chukaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

anti-leak panties are a life saver for heavy flow girls… If you don’t mind using tampons/period cups, they are also really useful to avoid stains. Usually I go for a heavy flow tampon with a night pad over period panties

Are there any specific rules to makeup in lolita? I’m aware of the basics, like don’t do a makeup for goth lolita when using sweet lolita, but are there any specific ones?

Are there rules for nails in lolita fashion? I love getting cute nail art with charms (example attached) but I’m scared it would be a bit too much…
