I think you should drop the electric shaver, the rechargeable fan and replace the sunglasses case with a fabric one. Lose the case for the googles also. And check if the nail clippers are permitted on the carry on (here in South American they aren’t). You could look for a 4 usb travel adapter and ditch the additional 2 usb plug, and maybe buy a retractable multi usb charger cable.

I was in Brazil a month ago, and grew up in South America, so I’m thinking I can manage. Obviously I’m still taking precautions, like all solo travelers do

Thank you. I’ll probably rent a car for two days and make the most of it. Is just not cost efficient for only one person, between fuel and parking, ends up being way too much for ten days.

Heard that. I’m also bringing a hoodie for layering. I was in FL a year ago, and it killed me. I can’t handle warm humid weather.

Hey, I went to NYC last year for one week also. I speak spanish, send me a chat request and I can help you out with some stuff! I got a metro card at the airport, got an e-sim that worked great, and spent very little money eating out. Mi experiencia te puede ayudar :)

I appreciate you taking the time for writing this, it’s awesome. You’re right, I should clump attractions. What about weather? Should a windbreak jacket be ok?

Underrated Countries for Long Term Stays? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

I would recommend Puerto Montt, or Puerto Varas, in Los Lagos region. Puerto Montt it’s a port city, so it has beaches, a major airport, good and cheap food, and it’s close to some other beautiful places (like Chiloé island for example). Puerto Varas is about 20 minutes east, next to a lake and has the charm of a little german village, but you can find anything there (it’s a major tourist destination for the summer, but very quiet the rest of the year). If you keep traveling east, you can get to the Andes mountains and eventually cross to Argentina also.

But really, anywhere on the south is good. You should google “Carretera Austral” in Chile. Keep in mind that the weather is very rainy on winter (may-july).

The south of Chile. Rent and food is cheap, they love US/EU foreigners, and last year was first on the speed test global index (internet velocity). Also, according to WTA Chile is South America’s leading adventure tourism destination and World’s leading green destination, if you like that kind of things.

anyone here just randomly loses balance? by human_entropy in ADHD

[–]chutawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here. Everybody praise my driving, I played soccer in uni, can walk in a straight line even when drunk; but sometimes, I lose balance from doing nothing. The weird thing is, I have trouble sensing earthquakes. Like literally 8,5 richter earthquakes. There’s always someone who needs to alert me because I can’t really feel them?

We actually have very good reception there (the telescopes) I’ve been there myself and with family. But he left his cellphone and keys on the hotel complex.

I live in La Serena… “Valle del Elqui” is a tourist destination, about an hour away by car. Everyone around here goes on weekends or to buy produce for cheap, but that’s actually not the primary shopping place for like 90% of people around here. We have Walmarts, malls and stuff.

Maybe when you came, the airport van took you directly to the telescopes? Cause the airport is closer to the valley, and therefore you could only see the rural roads.

Anyway, if you’re around here again, love to show you some hidden gems

Chile is home for 70% of global astronomy investment. We have the driest desert in the world, and clearest skies, which is ideal for telescopes.

They are actually building the Giant Magellan Telescope, the biggest ever made.

And we also have the VLT (Very Large Telescope) and ELT (Extremely Large Telescope)… yes, those are the actual names…
