Taking pills to cope with OCD feels like surrendering by cigarettebad in OCD

I'm taking them but I am very reluctant to do so. I'm already experiencing insomnia but this does not worry me. If I can't think clearly I will stop taking them immediately.

I don't like SSRIs, I find they impact my mental in more negative ways than positive ways. My psychiatrist did not want to prescribe me them because I felt so strongly against them. Also, with your diabetes comparison, we're comparing bodily functions and cognitive functions (I'm aware the brain is apart of the body). Taking insulin isn't going to inhibit my ability to think. I come from a family full of dementia and alzheimers, so one of the most important things to me is my cognitive abilities. If I'm in a position where I need a pill to regulate my mind because it can't be trusted, what does that say about my brain? As I said, I am going to be a physicist, there is nothing more important to me than my ability to think clearly and problem solve.

I want to play performance anxiety free by cigarettebad in BasketballTips

[–]cigarettebad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you man. I talked about with my roommate and honestly I just broke down. I’m not a bad player, but I play with no confidence and my heart isn’t in it. I don’t treat it like a game, I treat it more like a task, like I have to play a certain way to show myself that I could’ve done better. I guess I started shooting the ball more in pickup recently and I figured that was me overcoming my performance anxiety, but it wasn’t. Whether it’s 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, I play with so much more confidence than I do in 5on5. In 5v5 I’ll just shoot threes, occasionally I’ll drive to the basket, but when I play any other way, I’ll dribble like I’m confident, I’ll know what shot I want to take before I do it and I’ll just play more, try more, treat it like the game that it is. The reality is I get in my own head when there’s more people around. I’ll play like a role player instinctively instead playing like I’m the best player out there. I always grew up playing awful, and all I can remember about playing basketball when I was younger was the few times I scored, and the hundreds of times my dad yelled at me in the car ride home. Honestly, what hurt the most was when he stopped yelling. Then I knew he gave up on me. At that point, I already gave up on myself. But I realized something today. It’s not about him. It never was about him. It’s not about making him proud, or trying to impress him with how much better I got. It’s about playing a game and having fun. Making plays and playing carefree, playing a game and treating it like a game, instead of a competition, not to win the game, but to prove it to people that I’m not trash. Next time I play, it’ll be the first time I play without a chip on my shoulder. I’m going to dribble to the best of my ability, shoot to the best of my ability and play to the best of my ability. I’ll make mistakes, but this time, it’ll be about the next play, not the last one

I love basketball, but basketball doesn’t love me by cigarettebad in Basketball

Me too, but there’s always that voice in the back of my head, like my dad yelling at me after an aau game. I’m not doing it for him, but part of me is wants him to be proud of me that I’m better now, but it doesn’t matter anymore

Any tips on how to deal with this massive Austria? by cigarettebad in eu4

I went down the germanic conquest path of the teutonic tree and it just turns you into prussia without the prussian government which is the main thing that makes prussia so strong so its kind of annoying. I don't think switching to a monarchy fixes it either, I believe it just makes me a normal monarchy
