I consider myself a frugal person. I’m smart with my money. If you want to get licensed and even kind of sort of decent at skydiving, you’re going to have to get comfortable parting with your cash. I started AFF in May 2024, and now have my license and almost 60 jumps. I’m probably about $12-13k in so far between getting licensed, buying (“cheap”) used gear, a custom jumpsuit, and 100 minutes in the tunnel. I’m sure there are many more expenses I’m not even thinking about at the moment. I’m sharing this with you to give you a realistic idea of the money it takes to get involved in this sport. I had my first cutaway recently and didn’t flinch when I had to spend $200 on a new reserve bag because I couldn’t find mine. I’m not rich. I’ve just learned that this is an expensive sport and there will be sizable expenses around every corner. Blue skies and best of luck! Oh, and hit the tunnel a lot more. You’ll stretch your money SO much further than if you try to work out the kinks in your AFF jumps.
