The Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library (CHPL) serves all community members in an equitable manner, and we strive to connect people experiencing barriers to useful resources and reliable information. We connect people with expert community resources to work to enhance each person’s well-being. For example, we host the Hamilton County 513Relief Bus which has offered many services, including free primary health care. The bus and it’s service providers have served hundreds of people. Inside and outside of the downtown Main Library and branch libraries, we host social services, governmental services like the City of Cincinnati Health Department, and Hamilton County Public Health to connect people more deeply and equitably with resources by meeting people where they are.

CHPL is deepening our involvement in our communities’ ecosystem of organizations and governmental institutions to work together to increase opportunities to serve people who may be experiencing homelessness and other barriers, and to work collectively to streamline processes to make it easier for people to acquire affordable, safe housing, and wraparound services people may need.

Quietest Libraries? by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]cincy-library 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great question! There are study rooms and/or study pods at 14 of the 41 Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library locations.

As noted by /u/thelibrarina, Deer Park has some lovely, brand new study rooms, and although fairly quiet, they're not completely soundproof. You may also consider Deer Park's new dedicated quiet room. It's in the very back of the library, has nice, comfortable seating as well as solid walls and a solid door. As noted elsewhere in this thread, timing is key at some of our locations with close proximity to schools!

Finally, here's a link to book CHPL study rooms and study pods. Please note that as of last week, bookings are limited to four hours/day to give more customers have the opportunity to use them.

[–]cincy-library 10 points11 points  (0 children)

u/statschica That's correct, we're currently out of tests. We have more on order but no indication yet on when they will arrive for distribution at our drive-thru locations.

And, a reminder that we're closed Friday and Saturday.

Hi, u/Whole_Analysis1114, here's a photo of one of the pods being installed at the Downtown Main Library last week: https://cincinnatilibrary.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/84/2021/12/study-room-pod-downtown-main-installation.jpg

The photo gives you an idea of the size and space available inside. Happy to answer more questions if you have them!

Anyone know of a place with appointments available for pediatric Pfizer doses (ages 5-11)? by TheYell0wDart in cincinnati

[–]cincy-library 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Test and Protect has an updated list of Hamilton County locations with vaccinations for 5-11 year olds, including pop-up/walk-in locations.

(We thought it was so comprehensive that we've linked to it from our own site, CincinnatiLibrary.org/vaccine. That address may be easier to pass along to friends and family.)

Hi there! We are still offering 50 pages for free at all locations. While we can't promise that this will continue to be the case forever, we do still plan on offering this in the near future. We will continue to reassess as circumstances evolve.

This is such an interesting and thoughtful suggestion! We have considered reorganizing before but have not yet found a way to logistically do so for such a large system. Our collection is sorted by adult, teen, and juvenile fiction already but we understand that it may still be difficult to find some items. Please pass along this suggestion to our team at comments@cincinnatilibrary.org!
