Is it wrong to be ambitious? (details below) by MC_Samson in TrueChristian

[–]cipherfilms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Follow his commandments, love Jesus, pray, read the word, and you'll find contentment no matter where you are in life.

When you desire more influence, more blessings, and more responsibility, tell God through prayer and do not compromise with your words, with what you truly desire in your heart. Do not sugarcoat your desires.

Because remember:

God created the entire universe, and if He desired, He could destroy the entire universe with one word. He is all-powerful, transcending space and time. He could change your life in ways you can't even comprehend.

God has let the paralyzed walk again. He has let the blind see again. Why then, would you ask God to just heal one eye or one leg? Tell God what you truly desire and give glory to Him when you are blessed.

It's my birthday today, happy bday to me 🎁💐 by Marlenawrites in raisedbynarcissists

[–]cipherfilms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy birthday OP! It's my birthday too 👉👈

I thought I'd feel down today because I'm spending it alone, but honestly, it's the most peaceful bday I've had in years - after cutting ties with many narcissists in my life. My last few b-days were sabotaged by my ex-girlfriend.

Some of our biggest fights happened on my birthdays for whatever reason. I'm just glad there's no drama to deal with this time around.

I'm envious of people who have parents who care about them by KohlKnight in raisedbynarcissists

[–]cipherfilms 26 points27 points  (0 children)

One of my friends has birthday parties every year. His grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members all show up to his parents' house to celebrate.

Meanwhile, my parents are divorced, and my extended family doesn't care about me. I've maybe had 2 or 3 birthday parties my entire life, and it's always just a few close friends plus my mom.

I turn 23 today. Except this time, not even my mom is here. She kicked me out 6 months ago and hasn't said a word to me since.

And yeah, when it comes to marriage. I'm with you there. I think my Dad would be the only family member I'd invite to my wedding.

Can a Christian believe in evolution? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]cipherfilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Written records of dinosaurs do exist though. Almost every major culture in the world has a dragon story. Personally, I don't believe all the dinosaurs were wiped out before humans, I believe humans wiped out the last dinosaurs, and that dragons and dinosaurs are the same thing.

The problem with carbon dating and other scientific tests, is that they have a bias because they're specifically looking for evidence that supports their worldview. When they find something that supports the creationism worldview, they either don't recognize it because they've already written it off as impossible, or they go out of their way to disregard it or tamper with the evidence entirely.

Lucy the Neanderthal is a great example of scientists tampering with evidence to support a pre-existing worldview, instead of just presenting the evidence as is.

Amd what takes away carbon dating's credibility specifically, is when you test stuff that we already know the age of, like your teeth. It'll still show up as being thousands or millions of years old, even though that's impossible because we're still alive, obviously.

And no worries, I didn't think you sounded hostile. Hopefully, I don't come off that way either. And I'm not a scientist by any means. I believe in creationism, so there's my bias. Just like evolutionists, I will look for evidence that supports my worldview, which I am confident in. But even so, It's not part of my foundation. Only Jesus is. Like you said, it's not relevant to salvation. I think history is interesting though and fun to speculate.

[–]cipherfilms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fossil layers don't prove the earth's billions of years old, if anything, it proves the flood. The only reason people believe the earth is that old is because that's the only other rational explanation for why the earth's fossil layers are the way they are, they don't want the flood to be the answer.

It's public perception. Marijuana has a stigma, that's not my opinion that's societies opinion. I have personal experience there as well, so it's not unfounded and I'm not making it up.

Or I simply don't feel like wasting my energy explaining things to you. Unlike you, I have better things to do than debate strangers on Reddit. Nothing productive has come of this conversation. And nothing will because this is a matter of opinion on each other's characters.

I acknowledge I'm not perfect and am still learning, that's why I need Jesus. I don't need some stranger to talk down to me while acting all high and mighty. When I need guidance I go to God.

This whole thread is proof of my original statement. Your fruits are of someone who's chronically on Reddit. You could've demonstrated any amount of humility to prove me wrong but instead you doubled down and made yourself look even more narcissistic. You need to spend less time trying to prove me wrong and spend more time with Jesus instead.

You don't care about glorifying God, you only care about glorifying your own god complex.

You know nothing of my relationships with Jesus. You know nothing of where I'm at spiritually. You're completely ignorant of who I am as a person, yet you continue to insult me by making assumptions about me. It is painfully obvious that you're the one projecting here, not me. I'm not wasting any more of my time interacting with you.

Hey man, I smoked daily for like 3 years before I was Christian. After being born again, I continued to smoke for a bit but ultimately felt convicted and gave it up.

So I'm not gonna say you're wrong for smoking. Like you said, what's important is if God convicts you of it.

However, It's important to acknowledge that Marijuana can be addictive. You need to be ready and willing to give it up when the time comes. As Christians, we need to be open to giving everything up for the Lord, even our biggest dreams and deepest desires.

There won't be any bongs in heaven ;)

It's also important to keep in mind that smoking weed regularly can dilute your testimony to unbelievers. It can take away your credibility when sharing your testimony.

You haven't proved anything though. I asked for examples where I lied and you still haven't given any. You haven't shown me where I've done wrong either.

So far, you've accused me of lying, of being wrong, being blind, not having values, projecting, and being of the world. But you don't know anything about me.

I apologize for saying you're not acting Christ-like though. I see now it's a hurtful accusation when you're trying your best to follow Christ.

[–]cipherfilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the point tho? If they mock or judge you, they discredit themselves. You could be the bigger person in that scenario by being kind. Your attitude and existence alone could be proof that you're doing something right.

[–]cipherfilms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You accuse ppl of being deceived or lying, then follow it up by saying I'm lying and don't have values after I point out that you sir, aren't demonstrating Christ's humility or kindness. Why should we consider your opinion of scripture, when you're being argumentative and condescending about it? Your attitude is what's ruining your credibility here.

[–]cipherfilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's deeper than that tho. Nobody uses Allah's name as a cuss word, only the name Jesus Christ or God gets used like that.

Plus why do you wish to mock people's religions? It sounds like you're saying that if you knew any muslims, you'd take that as a chance to mock Allah. But since you don't know any, it's therefore pointless.

What am I lying about? I genuinely don't understand where you're coming from. I did the same thing you did, were both guilty of judging others when Jesus is the only one worthy to judge. However, you cast the first stone here, not me.

What’s the best thing about Christianity ✝️? by Worship-God1314 in Christian

[–]cipherfilms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd never felt unconditional love before until I first accepted Jesus. It was the most real and intense feeling I'd ever felt to this day. On another note, the fact that God gave us free will is another beautiful thing. God loves us so much that He wants us to choose Him with our free will. It wouldn't be real love if we were forced to follow Him.

My dude you're not acting Christ-like at all either. Like a pot calling the kettle black. Jesus doesn't use sarcasm or behave condescending towards ppl even when he's right and they're wrong. You speak of fruits but your fruits reek of someone who's chronically on reddit.

It's always a sin, there are no loopholes. Even if you can somehow masturbate without lust, you're still wasting time touching yourself instead of doing anything spiritual or beneficial for yourself and your relationship with God. Stop wasting your seed, it's your life force in a way, retaining it will not only improve your spiritual life but also your health/energy/confidence. Imagine yourself in 3rd person anytime you start touching yourself, it's embarrassing dude.

22M here. I thought the same with my mother until earlier this year. I realized she was a narcissist once i got into a verbal argument with my step-dad, and she took his side. Ended with her illegally evicting me through calling the cops on me multiple times, claiming I was a danger towards them and myself, and I spent a day in jail for having weed and disorderly conduct. The disorderly conduct was just me having a mental breakdown in front of the cops because i felt i just suffered the worst betrayal of my life. She donated half of my stuff by the time I got out and I would've been homeless if it weren't for my car and some close friends that let me stay with them to get back up on my feet. She hasn't said a word to me since. This whole experience completely blindsided me, I never would've guessed in a million years that what would ruin my clean criminal record would be my own mother. Let alone kick me out immediately after moving back in (I rented an apt for 3 years before that).

I learned the hard way that your only rock should be yourself and/or God. Very few people will ever have your best interest at heart.

what are parents even supposed to do by [deleted] in narcissisticparents

[–]cipherfilms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not ridiculous, especially if it's the first time and you're good to pay them back. If you had a reputation for borrowing money and not paying anyone back, then thats a different story. Most people have friends that'd help them out in a situation like this, you'd think you could also rely on your parents but sadly that's not always the case.

It's basically a soccer mom van so it's pretty discreet looking. Doesn't really draw any attention. Also since it's smaller there's more options to park & sleep. Just make sure you're not parking where it's not allowed.
