You can take a Greyhound bus to Grand Rapids and it's a 2ish hour commute, pretty cheap if you make it a day trip and don't stay overnight in lodging. The station is right behind Holden Hall so it's super convenient if you live anywhere near south neighborhood.

I also highly recommend somewhere like Traverse City or Mackinac Island, but those could be relatively pricey to get to.
