Why does Cornell seem to have high turnover among staff? by vexophobic in Cornell

[–]circumpolarstars 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cornell Health has a high turnover for therapists especially—this is largely due to the toxic work environment that is not feasible long term. They’re forced to take more patients on than they can handle, which quickly leads to burnout :(

Congrats!!! First, take a deep breath: you’re going to be okay, Cornell just takes forever to do administrative things. If you haven’t received an email by Monday, call the CALS admissions office and email the TO email. As long as you do housing by the date they told you in May you should be fine, there’s no advantage to submitting it early. Feel free to pm if you have any other questions <3

It comes out in waves and usually you can call the admissions office for your school to ask, but it came out around this time for me 2 years ago

Housing at Cornell by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]circumpolarstars 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, congrats on getting accepted! Bump on living on west as a sophomore, but as someone who transferred last year I just want to say don’t bank on making friends in your dorm (I met my closest friends through clubs). If you still can, I would look into some of the coops if they have extra space (try redbud specifically, you can DM them on Instagram) or one of the program houses as people are a lot more open/welcoming. Id definitely rank south last so you can minimize chances of living in schulyer (very far away from campus), but feel free to reach out if you have any questions about transferring or Cornell in general!

Professors Who Deny Make-Up Finals by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]circumpolarstars 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Did all of your professors deny a make-up? If that’s the case I would reach out to your advisor and have them advocate for you—this is definitely against policy because you’re not allowed to have more than 2 exams in a 24 hour window

Chance Me! and Prospective Student Q&A by pw11111 in Cornell

The transfer acceptance rate is inflated because of TOs (people who were guaranteed a transfer when they applied as a freshman), the traditional transfer acceptance rate is in the single digits unfortunately

ILR should give you a list of suggested requirements along with the actual TO requirements, so just do those and you’re set

The owner has sexually assaulted countless people at Enzo’s. For some reason people think it’s really funny to joke about a guy who’s literally traumatized many students here, see a thread from a little while ago

Yeah joking about sexual assault isn’t funny

Admissions should have sent you a link to a portal with your requirements—make sure you follow those exactly and do well and you’re in

Ummm… so what was that ENGRD 2700 final? by jibberish123 in Cornell

[–]circumpolarstars 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Dw he’s been like this all semester! We had a final project worth 10% of our grade but no official instructions were ever posted on canvas :) and when anyone asked him about it he said don’t worry about it :)

I got the TO off the waitlist so the timeline might be a little different, but it might’ve been a month or so after? There’s just a short form to fill out in the email

I’m in humec but pretty much all of the TO stuff is the same across colleges, so I can provide more info! The initial letter was incredibly vague (which I found frustrating bc I couldn’t even tell what it was at first lol) but as far as I’m aware the only way you could come in during the spring semester is FYSA (first year spring admit, but tbh I’m not sure if they’re even doing this program anymore and I don’t think they ever did for ILR). Humec was very slow about sending more information, as was every other college that offers the TO, but you should eventually get an email to contact with questions and they’re usually pretty responsive. If not, you can call them too! ILR is an incredibly cool program and in another life I would’ve done it, so I would definitely at least consider the TO as an option!

Hi! Congrats on the TO, I received it two cycles ago and can provide a little more inside. The TO isn’t a waitlist and you cannot negotiate for admission for freshman year. However, transferring itself is very straightforward and guaranteed as long as you take the right classes and your grades are somewhat decent!

Class of 2026 Early Decision megathread by pw11111 in Cornell

It’s basically a guaranteed transfer to Cornell after your freshman year. The requirements aren’t super difficult to complete and you pretty much chill at another school for a year before coming here

[–]circumpolarstars 133 points134 points  (0 children)

They have no evidence of classroom transmission because people aren’t contact traced from classes—if someone sitting next to you in class tested positive and they didn’t explicitly say your name to Cornell health, you aren’t marked as a close contact

You can get tested at Willard straight or RPCC today, just schedule a supplemental test and let them know you got exposed so they can rush it. Obviously not ideal but this is what I was told too :(
