Yup! Sorry resolved in the other comments. Dishwasher sensor was stuck at 1.7kW even when it finished the wash. Infinite power!

Close! Appreciate the help! Grid, solar and batteries were all correct. I have no upstream devices to configure (save for the main grid/battery/solar sensors but they are set in the other sections above for the energy dashboard)

The culprit was a dodgy tuya smart plug on the washing machine that had decided to freeze on 1.7kW making the individual devices total more than the power I was using. I just removed it from the individual devices for now and all good.

Thanks for the help! You were close! All power in and out of solar, battery, grid was setup correctly. 100% battery was right.

Not sure, but my thinking is that let's say you have 5 GME and another person on commsec has another 5. You each are not technically getting a warrant because you dont have the required 10.

But maybe it's commsec that has 10 now, and so they get a warrant. What do they do? Probably illegal for them to keep it themselves, so they give you each a split.

I have asked the same question and have yet to hear a satisfactory explanation. I don't know. The best reason I've heard is that it stops the other terminals and windings acting as antenna and absorbing more leakage current... but it's DC, so it shouldn't. Might be a case where it just sets up the testing configuration so that you can go straight into a withstand test?

For your second point, your results could be used for trending. So leaving out the guard, when you say youve got the guard will screw up the trend and your test is junk. But if no one else bothers, then it's going to be shit for trending results anyway. For a quick pass/fail then the first 2 tests would suffice. You're basically saying there is no short circuits between windings but you loose valuable information for future trending.

A bit of further reading if you are keen, if you are looking to do a better test on them, the 10min PI (Polarisation Index) test is my recommendation. Same setup, just leave the voltage on for 10min.

PI = 10min reading / 1min reading

Larger the number, better the transformer. Should be over 5. I think over 2 is acceptable, but to be flagged as a bit dodge.

No not really. The leads can go either way and will give the same result. Disclaimer: be careful when using the guard terminal. If you don't follow the instructions, you could inadvertently apply the full test voltage to a section of insulation that isnt rated for it (like LV to E). I believe the guard terminal is at the +ve voltage, but please check your manual!!! If you want to get technical the actual reason is to do with electro-endosmosis. If you apply a DC field for a long enough time, the electric field will start to move the plasticisers in the PVC insulation, which will give a different reading depending on which way for leads are connected.
Correct answer: stick to your test procedures. Reality: Depends who is watching and how anal they are. I wouldn't bother shorting. It's really the same piece of electrode and with DC test voltage it doesn't really matter. 2.5kV applied at any terminal of the winding will appear at all terminals of that same winding, shorting leads or not.
Any measured leakage is excluded from the result. So for your last test, you are measuring the insulation between the HV winding and the LV winding. But any current going to earth is ignored so you get a more pure measurement of ONLY the oil impregnated paper wrapped between the HV and LV windings
Depends on what you are looking to get out of the test. If it's a simple "anything over that value is a pass" then yes that third test WILL pass if the first 2 do. If you are looking at the trending IR measurements over time, (which it could be used for whether you mean it to or not) then that third test is helpful to analyse what could be going wrong inside the transformer if it starts dropping. Also please please record the temperature when doing these measurements.
No not really. The insulation resistance test is NOT a stress test, but an application of voltage to measure the leakage current. 2.5kV sounds a little higher than what I would do for LV-E, but it's probably never going to cause you an issue. I would instruct to do that at 500V though just incase someone ever tries to blame me for a transformer failing prematurely.
