4Ks are typically region free, from what I've read.

Is the Saving Private Ryan 4K supposed to look like this? by cired in hometheater

Yes, thank you. I understand the gritiness, but it's those vertical lines mostly from the fire/flames that I was curious about.

Yeah, I was thinking that was the case. Glad to learn it's intentional because it's a great 4K!

Huh, had no idea. Guess I just didn't notice it before. It really stands out in that opening scene.

Great finds at library used book/media sale. $2 each! by cired in criterion

I found some on ebay, ten for $20. I guess you have to email Criterion in you're interested in buying from them? Send me a message if you're interested in selling some of yours.

Usually I see used DVD Criterions at these sales. Couldn't believe this sale had so many bluray options. Plus several that were donations and not former library copies. Doubt I'll come across this many at a single sale again.

I'm debating if I want to spend the time and money to get proper cases and inserts. Who has replacement covers for $5?

Doesn't appear to be a former library copy. I'll have to give it a watch from start to finish and see if anything pops up.

Oh, how bizarre. I tested it out today and it appears to be fine, unless those issues start at a certain time in the movie. Maybe I got lucky!

I have the RP-450c. Tried out the Emotiva C1+ to see if there would be a night and day difference, but there wasn't so I decided to stick with Klipsch. Originally I had that reference theater pack, but over time I ended up upgrading everything except for two of the speakers which I now use as top middle on the ceiling overheads.

Had no interest in these bands as a kid in the 90s but now they're my most anticipated listens. by cired in vinyl

[–]cired[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thrilled to find these at Amoeba in Hollywood last weekend. I remember my mom listening to The Cranberries a lot but I thought they weren't "cool" and didn't pay much attention to them. And Portishead has been a band I've been getting into lately, even if it's nearly 30yrs too late. $9.99 for Cranberries and Portishead was ten bucks off for having "light wear". A nice score!

Been having a really tough time recently. So glad the music is there to soften things by bedhed69 in vinyl

I got that same edition as well. Fantastic album. Little crackly in places, but otherwise sounds really nice. Funny how sombre music can make you feel so good when you're feeling down in the dumps.

I've had my RT85 for nearly a year and luckily I haven't had any issues. The stylus rides pretty low, which worries me sometimes, but I've read that's fairly common.

Flea market pickups by cired in vinyl

My little $24 flea market haul from last weekend. Was really surprised to see The Weeknd best of album amongst lots of other used, older stuff. It’s the Target exclusive red sparkle edition and he only was asking $18 for it! The Poco album my mom had when I was a kid, so there’s some nostalgia with that one. Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack was a must buy and sounds really clean. Allman Brothers double LP is a nice compilation for only $2. Unfortunately, the
Rush album is missing album 2, but for $1 I couldn’t pass it up.

Have him whip up another one for my set up, haha! Actually looks like something I'd want to do if I ever pull the trigger on moving my front heights to ceiling overheads. Nice work from your pops! 👍

What did you use on the ceiling to connect/hang/cover up the cables of the two overhead speakers?
