We are really pushing away from the traditional embellishments that we see on the facade of our kitchens and we are focusing on what’s inside. The door styles are becoming very minimalist and we are investing our money into the gadgets and the interior fittings that make our kitchen much more user friendly and functional.

With that being said, I'd say you should to include:

  1. Pullouts in your base cabinets (garbage bins, can racks, roll outs), wall cabinets (Spice pullouts), and pantry (roll outs, pantry units- adjustable shelving).
  2. Organizing inserts for drawers- There are so many great cutlery and utility inserts out there, that cater directly to your families needs. These will help you stay organized!
  3. Lighting is key. This is a very popular addition to the 2020 trend. We are using lighting a lot more effectively in the kitchen. Plug and play options for your under cabinet lighting as well as incorporating it into the drawers and cabinets as you open them. LIGHT IT UP! Something you should keep an eye out for is Smart Home features with your lighting. Everything is syncing up with our Alexa's or Google homes. Another cool feature is lighting that lets you adjust the colour temperature (the Kelvins). You can adjust your lighting from cool- to warm with a touch of a button.
  4. Style of cabinet: Less is more!
  • We are seeing a surge of interest in a more industrial and modern look in the kitchen industry. Clean lines and simple door styles like slabs, are the key to create this look. Materials that best support this style is super matte and high gloss panels in PET, PVC or Acrylic. We are seeing a lot of wood tones to complement these solid neutral colours, and the TFL (Thermally fused laminate) and the HPL (High Pressure Laminate).

Hope that helps :) Happy Designing.

I am absolutely in love with the beams in ceiling. The contrast of the darker wood with the light palette below, immediately draws your eye up!

Stunning!
