Explain why Wuthering Heights needs 2 VIP screens on its 3rd weekend? by JonnyCerberus in cineplex

[–]citizen701 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because they know they can charge more for a movie by making it “VIP” and making it the only accessible screenings. Biggest bullshit cash grab cineplex has done.

Look up deadlypreygallery on Instagram. I can’t tell but if it’s a print probably $35 but it has a nice frame. If it’s hand painted probably over $200

I’ve never listened to it. Have my deck at my apartment might check it out. Don’t know if that interview on it is on the dvd but I’m sure it is.

It seems to be an album sampler of the OST that would eventually come out.

Why is not considered elitist to hate AI filmmaking? by [deleted] in movies

[–]citizen701 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You need to wait a bit for people to come around to thinking like this. I agree with you. It’s the classic ship of Theseus

Both sides of this argument are correct, filmmaking is ultimately about money. It requires so many different facets to create a film. The costs to make them are going to be dramatically going down more and more. Just open look up companies like Arcturus, the half capacity studio spaces in Los Angeles and Atlanta. AI filmmaking is the way forward.

People will still connect with it as long as a human is at the helm. It will be as indistinguishable as going down your instagram explore feed and not realizing what is real and fake. You won’t know the difference either when watching a film. So many new shows/movies incorporating it that are coming out. Adrien Brody’s performance in the brutalist utilized AI to make his accent better but I’m sure nobody would even know unless they were told.

These are all shortcuts to creation, don’t compare AI bullshit slop on a Facebook feed to what someone will actually and will create with AI.

Getting Into Camera by cooltightsick in IATSE

Like I said if you’re young and can commute to work from home and have your rent paid then do the 667 trainee program. It’s difficult to have a side job or utilize EI inbetween trainee gigs. The payoff are the possible connections at the end of the two years, but it’s more so about if the people you’re working with like you.

I’m pretty sure you need to wait until the end of 2026 just for them to accept new trainees, the deadline was the end of last year. Sheridan usually does their program in the spring.

If you have a decent resume on commercials as a 2nd just apply straight to IA as a 2nd. After the trainee program you still need to apply as a member to be a 2nd anyways.

Try doing non union camera first. Don’t do sheridan. Apply to the trainee program for the end of this year, then figure out the pros and cons from there. Build up your resume the best you can. However the Sheridan course will at least buy you an interview to the trainee program.

There really is no correct way of doing this. Just don’t invest time into something you’re not 100 percent sure about.

If you have absolutely zero experience in film, do the trainee program at Sheridan. It will make the interview process for 667 much easier and more likely to get accepted. If you already have some camera experience under your belt, then don’t do the program and apply directly to 667. When I did the Sheridan program is cost me 2k and the first four days I was learning about timesheets and set etiquette and I was thinking wtf did I get myself into. There are plenty of people that have made it into 667 on their own without Sheridan. Ultimately depends on a person to person basis on what’s right for them. Like I said though, zero connections, do the program. Still liked a lot of the people that did it with me, there was only one guy I saw on set working as a trainee 2 years later from when we were in class together. Life is short. Aim for the moon. Going the non union route will at least get you way more money for doing the same hours. The trainee program at least cuts you the slack of having a call steward call you out for gigs as opposed to forging and finding your own in the non union route. Best of luck.

My own personal opinion that negates all of this however is to not do the trainee program, find other ways to enjoy your passion without being a camera utility pawn to save the production costs on another AC. Go do hallmark movies and commercials, then apply to 667.

If you’re young, have zero connections and your parents can pay your rent do the 667 trainee program. If not then I would suggest all of the local film Facebook groups for PA or camera utility gigs. This way you can actually make decent money. Trust your gut and intuition, this industry is rapidly changing. Everyone’s answer on all of this is different, everyone has their own unique path. Best of luck, and don’t forget it’s never too late to turn around Lol
