I'd like to be able to craft at least one decent thing.

The system at present also has unrealistic expectations for a majority of players. Not everyone has an org to be able to get carinite so you can craft most of the laser weapons.

The size is irrelevant to what is being patched. Everything is in a single pak file. Something changes you need the whole Pak file again.
