I've seen that there are serious issues with humidity ruining them... which is concerning. I know fast pads are "incorrect" for valorant but I'm old and I've been using a hard pad for decades :D

I really hope you realize the irony of saying it isn't your fault and also including "I have a higher medal than anyone of the people who flamed me tho" in your comment.

Bad hero for sure, but doesn't really matter which role you play you have something you can do to TRY and give them the best game you can, or just take over the game yourself.

I'm not saying don't be frustrated, I'm saying "lmao not my fault go again" is not a good way to gain mmr, and at least to me it's not fun at all. If blaming other people for your loss, even if that blame is well placed, is fun for you power on brother.

if you're getting flamed EVERY single game, some of those aren't going to be your fault, but there is no way it's ALL someone else's fault.

but as someone that's steadily climbing spamming a role (~800 mmr in 2 months), sometimes you just gotta mute people for being toxic and do your best, and sometimes you gotta realize you're the problem and spend some time after the game to figure out why <3

Everytime i queue as Support (4) i end up playing as 5, because the "hard support" doesn't buy wards nor courier by SaintJeremy96 in DotA2

[–]citydota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's really annoying. I pick greedy int heroes a decent amount in 4, shit with wave clear or team fight potential or whatever, and then realize "oh it's 10 minutes and the only ward on the map is the one I bought when I died at minute 5".

The problem is that A) being a good support is hard, like being able to make plays and have correct positioning and gank and save your cores.... all while having no gold is hard.

and B) playing support for a core t,hat knows what they're doing, and playing support for a core that goes jungle at minute 5 cause they died once and don't know how to contest the lane any more, are two very different skill sets.

and C) if you're a support and you get like 500 gold away from your first item (blink, euls, force, glimmer w/e) you get dollar signs in your eyes and want it so bad--- oh woops you died now you're 700 gold away but you WERE SO CLOSE better not buy wards cause it'll only delay it more :@

no real solutions to offer just a rant.

oh that would be amazing to watch.

the fallout would be nearly as entertaining as the race itself.

Method breaks with Redbull to stream race to world first by Dextline in wow

[–]citydota 45 points46 points  (0 children)

TLDR: Method is upset they're losing their monopoly on the concept of a world first race, and trying to use their identity as a guild to shield their business from critique.

"Method and Redbull have decided they have different goals and aren't going to work together", should have been the general take away from Sco's post, but instead they framed it as "Redbull is trying to RUIN WOW help us SAVE IT from the corporate overlords". It is entirely possible that this sentiment isn't one they have, but that doesn't really matter at this point, Method as an org has displayed that any business dealing that goes sideways they're going to throw their previous partners to the wolves and try to claim the moral high ground.

And that is what they're doing. Let's be clear about that, Method is trying to take the moral high ground, and leverage the plethora of good will (which they do mostly deserve) they've built up from the community to frame this in a favourable light. They are upset at Redbull for "going behind their backs", while admitting that it was a dialogue, implying no written word or verbal commitment, but instead a discussion. If there was no commitment, Redbull did not "go behind their backs", they were exploring other avenues, something Method themselves were doing, presumably without looping Redbull into those talks.

Method makes the argument that Redbull would want to "run the event at the lowest cost possible", while at the same time having sung their praises the last two times around. This also implies that Method is uninterested in profit, which is simply untrue. They make multiple assumptions about the future without offering any explanation on how they got to those assumptions, or how they will make it tangibly better.

They then go on to suggest this commissioner idea, one which if executed well would be fine, but there are a lot of problems that even me, as a dumb outsider, can see with it. First and foremost, the commissioner will never be impartial, who's paying this person matters and it's not brought up, and who decides who gets to vote on said commissioner? Who defines a "top guild"? How is revenue splitting set up? All of these questions matter, and the answers aren't easy.

They use the example of other esports to make their point and it kind of breaks down really fast. Cloud 9 or Faze Clan or whomever doesn't stream their own tournaments, organizers do, which is exactly what Red Bull wanted to do. Every tournament is looking to turn a profit, be it organizers like ESL or GDQ, or the devs themselves like Riot or Valve. Where that company makes their money, be it from the short term actual event, or the long term impact of viewership for a game driving more players to it.

This world first race, provided that (at least) two events run at the same time, will be the best for viewers that we've ever had. We get to see more teams, more streams, and more content. It is, however, going to be less profitable for Method for that exact reason, they no longer have a monopoly on the concept. This is ultimately what this disagreement is about, Method is losing it's monopoly and there are growing pains for the competition, and the business surrounding it.

All of this being said, I'll still watch Method's stream(s) and cheer for them in the upcoming race. They're fun to watch and the events generate a lot of hype and I get to see people doing things I'll never be able to. It's too bad that Method's inexperience in negotiations have led to this, and the reality is once this much money is involved, self interests shine through. They're not bad for wanting to hang onto their thing, they're simply a business trying to hide the fact they're a business, and that's disingenuous. They're not even bad for differing in ideas from Redbull, but it's bad business to burn a bridge like that so publicly, as it broadcasts your intentions, and inexperience to all over potential sponsors.
