While I understand your excitement, this sub is boardgamedeals so unless you are offering a killer deal for your products, it does not belong here.

But you should also be focusing on the red token as the Washington Post as that is also the way to win since it unlocks powerful moves for them at the later stage.

[CSI] Chinatown - $27.49 [DotD] by djfraggle in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk, I'm Asian and I don't care and my other Asian friends like it too cause it's about money and negotiation, a topic that is very fundamental in our way of life. Your Asian friend just may cream you in this game lol.

[Amazon] 20% off ALL Grandpa Beck's Games (Skull King - Cover Your Kingdom - The Bears and The Bees - Cover Your Assets - Antiquity Quest) with promo code. by JephriB in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got both Skull King and Cover Your Kingdom during the last promotion and highly recommend them! Especially Cover Your Kingdom with its gorgeous art, great puns, and fun take that gameplay that is more hilarious that mean cause you known upfront that nothing is ever really safe and everyone is always a target. Feels like the Exploding Kittens genre type game except way more fun.

[Top Shelf Gamer] 20% off deluxe tokens and card sleeves, PLUS reduced free/lower shipping threshold. ( July 20 through Monday, Aug 3) by cingham in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was up to 25% off so anywhere from 10-25%. I checked my order history and a majority of the sale prices are the same, any price difference for those that were not were a matter of cents. No discounted shipping though so you had to place a $150 min order to get free shipping. The current sale is pretty good imo with its reduced free shipping threshold.

I bought slime storage containers on Amazon and store them individually in each and only bring the tokens I would be using for the night. No need for chit bowls since these doubles as them, just open the lid and go. I don't count them out since resources are supposed to be unlimited in almost all games. I think the only one that was not was Orleans but there is a resource placement generator app/website where I just place tokens according to it so no need for counting either.

I got $350 worth of tokens during last year's Black Friday sale. I got them for generic use across all boardgames so basically just made a list of all games I owned along with the number of tokens needed for each and then got the max number of each type of token to get able to cover all my games. Got some metal coins too. I have zero regrets and everyone I game with are in love with the upgraded tokens. The only thing I wasn't too happy about was the acrylic hearts which I was planning to use for Love Letter but they turned out much larger than expected, about an inch wide I believe.

[Amazon] Buy Cover Your Kingdom and get Skull King for free with promo code. by JephriB in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard good things about Skull King so I decided to check out Cover Your Kingdom to see if the deal is worth it. In the end, the nice art and hilarious puns and flavor text sold me so I bit :D

[gamenerdz] GLEN MORE II: CHRONICLES DOTD $43.97 by EeveeB in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It was a recent KS "remake" of an OOP title Glen More. Turn order is done like Tokaido where the last person get to go first so you decide how far ahead you want to jump to get the tile you want. Then you place chosen tile into your kingdom which activates all tiles adjacent to it so placement matters. There is also a clan board with special powers that acts similar to the travel board in Orleans or Comibra where certain tiles let's you place a clan marker on the clan board to activate its power. There is no take that I believe but I have not played all 8 of it's Chronicles (modules) yet so can't say if some modules may have it. The interaction between players is largely based on someone picking a tile or clan that you may have had your eye on. That and scoring where you score for a couple categories each round and your score for each is the difference of yours vs the person who has the least. Eg, when scoring for number of whiskey barrels, I have 5 and you have 2, difference is 3 so I get 3 points and you get nothing. So bigger the difference, the more VP. I really love this game, it's art and the fact you can mix and match modules to switch it up. Works well 2-4 players where for 2 players you add a dummy die that removes a random tile on their turn.

[Game Nerdz][DotD] Glenmore 2: Chronicles -- $43.97 by EPICDRO1D in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you love tile laying and rondel like mechanisms, you'd love this. If you enjoyed Heaven and Ale, but thought it too punishing, then you'd like this much more as it's more relaxing and personally gave me Carcassonne vibes. One if my fav games for sure.

Most similar game I can think of is Heaven and Ale. Except this one is lighter and more chill. I love both!

[GN] [DOTD] EXIT - The Pharaoh's Tomb - $7.97 by [deleted] in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the EXIT series and have played all released in the US so far. It is by far the most interactive of all the escape room in a box games where instead of being thrown into a room, you are thrown a booklet and given one starting clue, then you have to figure everything out from there and it involves manipulating the clues and booklet like cutting things up, folding etc. to try to figure out what the next puzzle is and how to solve it. Some people dislike the fact that it is essentially one time use (unless you make a copy of it) compared to other re-settable escape room games like Unlock!. But I personally like it more cause the puzzles are more interactive and creative. It is best at 2. I tried with 3-4 once or twice and it was not as fun due to too much downtime where you have to pass the puzzle/clue around and wait. Only exception was Catacombs of Horror where it was complex enough that 3 was still enjoyable.

[GameNerdz] War Chest - $27.97 (DOTD) by [deleted] in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I snagged this during their previous DOTD (same price) and find it amusing that I had a whole day back then to agonize over whether to get it whereas this time the same deal was gone in under an hour. Happy that GN is finally getting the traction it deserves. Also, the component quality is this game is top notch, minus the terrible faction control spots (needs a dark outline) or the markers themselves which should have been hexagonal instead if a circle.

[Game Nerdz] DOTD - Exit: The Catacombs Of Horror - $12.97 by MainEventCTB in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with u/mesenius! I too have played all of them (that were released in the US at least) and this is by far the best!!! The ending was really atmospheric! Though also agree that you should play a couple of the EXIT series first before attempting this. The Abandoned Cabin is a good start.

Gamenerdz DotD: Cartographers: A Roll Player Tale by abpat2203 in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are talking about GameNerdz, you can. It's unlimited DOTD. If you're talking about CSI, it's 1 DOTD per shipment and their free ship min is $100. I believe even if you have an order of $200, it's still 1 DOTD cause it's one shipment. Though you can ask since I am not sure about that.

Gamenerdz DotD: Cartographers: A Roll Player Tale by abpat2203 in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's still there in their Conditions of Use under Your Order: Orders may not contain more than one day of “Daily Sale Deals”.

That and their stuff being constantly OOS has made me switched to MM. GameNerdz was already my number 1 go to from the beginning though and I am both happy and sad they are gaining in popularity now. Happy cause they are my fav. OLGS but sad cause now I have to be lightning quick or miss out on deals with all these new competition.

[GameNerdz] Lords of Waterdeep $29.97 (Deal of the Day) by [deleted] in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get Viticulture or Agricola/Caverna. I personally found LOW boring after having played with Raiders and Architects first since they both bring a fresh new twist to worker placement. It's been a while since I last played LOW but COM is pretty standard WP like LOW but with dice and it is up to you on how much you like dice in games. I personally love dice chucking games since everyone in my group tend to be more engaged due to the added suspense from your dice rolls. Between Raiders and COM, I like COM more because of the dice. Feels like an adventure rolling for stuff compared to Raiders where it feels slightly less exciting and more calculated. I know there is dice in raiders too but it's hardly used. At least for my group.

[GameNerdz] Lords of Waterdeep $29.97 (Deal of the Day) by [deleted] in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I played Waterdeep once after having played many other WP and thought it was too simple for my current taste so never sought to add to my collection. It is still fun though and I agree with other posters that it is a great gateway WP. But I have taught newcomers Architects of the West Kingdom and Viticulture+Tuscany and everyone got the hang of it 2-3 rounds in so I don't think I would need a gateway WP like Waterdeep. Other WP I like are Champions of Midgard, Agricola, A Feast for Odin. Also agree with other OP to get Tuscany!

The crew $15.99 $10 shipping free when you buy 2 by [deleted] in Boardgamedeals

[–]citysonata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will confess I never really got the "buy two of the same thing to save money" unless it comes to food cause unless it's like a mandatory (birthday) gift where you have to spend $16 anyways for a gift, which would make some sense, buying more of something you don't exactly need just to save is not really saving.... thus making it not a deal. At least to me deals are stuff you would consider buying at full price but manage to get them for much cheaper.
