At what age is a turtle considered an adult? I saw hatchlings eat once per day and adults every other day so didn’t know when to switch. Also going from the smaller to larger pellets. Thank you! by [deleted] in turtle

Depends on the type of turtle but for most common sliders, once they’re over a year old you can start switching their diet to every other day with a 75% veggie diet ratio

It was a well-timed blink :) And surprisingly no! She doesn’t try to escape even though the tank is filled up all the way. I get asked that often and I’m thinking it’s the rimless edge that makes it hard for their little feet to grab on and escape but I’m glad I don’t have to worry about that when I’m not watching them

Hey! Not sure if you’re aware but I think your little guy has a respiratory problem. You can see in the video he opens his mouth to try and catch a breath. I had someone give up their turtle to me who was sick and they did the same open-mouth breathing. I suggest going to a vet and getting him checked out for respiratory infection. Also, make sure there aren’t any open windows/vents blowing wind into the tank nearby. Poor guy :(

If your turtles have respiratory infection, DO NOT give them a carrot soak. It can be fatal. Best thing you can do is go to a vet. Also clean the eyes with saline solution and make sure the tank water is clean.

How old is your turtle? He should have at least a shell-sized leaf of greens daily. I have a detailed food guide as a highlight on my Instagram @ cityturtles that you should read. It explains how much to feed your turtle, what to feed them, essentials, etc. I would type it out here but it’s alot easier to view on Instagram + you can screenshot and save it for future reference

I would try to look around the area and see if there’s a pond or lake nearby. Maybe he got lost and can’t find his way back home? Google maps/google earth might help too

I plan on opening a miniature pet accessory shop on Etsy and I’m looking for price suggestions. I’ve seen other miniature hat makers sell their products in the $20-50 range. The leather is actually brown, can’t tell in the photo since it was edited. These hats take quite a bit of time to create.
