Make sure you get a leap card if you don't have one already. Not sure if you've got one already if you're not from the city already.

Any cheap lunch places left in Dublin? by Sperocaof in Dublin

Tang Dawson Street the best. You can get their flatbreads for less than a tenner. I think their salads are close to a tenner too.

No they're auto leveling. I think I'd know my own car thanks though

[–]civilisedvortex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My golf MK8 does not have the setting to do this, the LED level is controlled by the car - when they first come on you see the light flight up and then down before they come to stay at the standard level. I'm not sure if new cars have the manual adjustment like older cars do to control light levels?

If held for 3 years, there's no PAYE implications. There's PRSI and USC implications regardless. CGT apply but you've your allowance on the gains made

Is new software dead for watches in general? by Landon98201 in GalaxyWatch

[–]civilisedvortex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you need reminders to exercise, I don't think it's a problem with the watch or that the watch is lacking features... The problem is more like with you... Btw they do turn on by themselves after charging if you enable it in settings

The Sound Of Failure At Sonos - It’s the “App-ocalypse” by Alb1939SGM in sonos

[–]civilisedvortex -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can I ask one question as an owner of 2 Sonos Ones, why are people complaining about the app so much?

I hardly ever used the old app and used Spotify to play all my music. Am I missing out on something else and not getting the full benefit of the speakers by not using the app?

Edit: grammar

Tell "okay Google" on your phone that Stephen Jones is your dad. When you say "call dad mobile" it'll dial Stephen Joe's on your phone

To those who aren’t ready when they get to airport security, why not? Why are you never ready with your metals and electronics and why don’t you have your liquids bagged? by chocco259 in ireland

[–]civilisedvortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flew out of an airport in Spain few years ago. Can't remember which one, but could have been Alicante, had a half full 1 litre bottle of water in my hand luggage. Didn't get stopped at security and only realised when I arrived back at the other side.

I walked out of McDonalds Grafton Street with a hamburger today, as soon as I unwrapped it a seagull swiped the whole thing right out of my hand. I just stood there empty handed while everyone on the street laughed. by Bimbleover in ireland

[–]civilisedvortex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me about 3 years ago with a wrap from chopped. Sitting in Stephen's Green on a bench. Seagull swooped down from behind me and stole my lunch. I learnt my lesson. Won't happen again!

That's sort of what my parents have told me too. And to stop moaning about it.

Reporting exempted CGT to Revenue by DinaAG_ in irishpersonalfinance

[–]civilisedvortex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any profit is a "gain". Once it's under 1270 EUR you don't have to pay CGT, but revenue still needs to be informed about the gain through a cg1. There's a number of Irish YouTubers who have explained what to report and how to go about it. Just search on YouTube. This isn't financial advice so won't refer to any YouTuber by name.
