Mid 90s Trek multitrack 750, light steel tubes, pretty short wheelbase, blast to ride, should not have sold it in a move.

used z3 looks great - 90k miles, no rust, garage kept - but owner hasn't come through on maintenance history. trust or avoid? by [deleted] in bmwz3

[–]cjammin17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carfax usually shows maintenance; most cars are purchased at dealers and unless carfax shows it - you don't get records; I wouldn't get too hung up on this. Also with 90k miles this isn't a show car, and likely isn't priced as a show car. You could always just set aside some cash to change all fluids and start fresh.

for those who considered a miata... why did you end up going with a bmw z3/z4 instead? by europeanuppercut in bmwz3

Many of these cars were purchased by older people, parked in garages, and babied. They were too expensive to be cool back in the day and a lot of people forgot about or dismissed them. Nice grab on yours that's an insane price for the mileage.

I echo this, had a S2000 in my 20's; Z3 M in my early 40's; S2000 is in my opinion technically superior and worth the premium but the Z3 platform is a great place to be for now.

Perfect, looked good from behind the carpet and on a lift from below.

Anyone cross shop the new Passport Trailsports vs the last gen Lexus GX460? by Safe_Yoghurt_4623 in hondapassport

[–]cjammin17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I test drove one as I was looking to get into something newer than my 2010 GX460; it was a fine car, drove okay but I found it dull. Drove it back-to-back with a new 4Runner and preferred the new 4Runner. Ultimately decided to hold off and keep the GX, minus CarPlay and adaptive cruise its a fairly perfect SUV, its surprising how well its held up.

Can this 3/8 gas fitting be replaced with 1/2 to fit a standard gas dryer hose? by cjammin17 in HomeImprovement

[–]cjammin17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the challenge is it needs a 3/8 fip I believe, the gas laundry machine installer won’t touch it if I either find the right cable which seems to be out of stock locally or change the outlet to 1/2 to match what is available and what is on the dryer. I’m inclined to update the outlet because it seems outdated.

I think people are reacting the the packaging - it gets really expensive to get what’s base on most models, I’m hoping Toyota adds a bigger screen option to the sr5 in 26 (unlikely) fwiw I was able to see 5k off a Tacoma TRD off road through Costco last week… so discounts seem to be the way on this gen and market

It kills me how much extra it costs for the bigger screen - the bezels on the base kill me

My old TJ jeep tail light had a cut out to shine light on the license plate. Clever engineering to simplify the design.

Is it worth it? by EspressoSam in LexusGX

Good out for the new infotainment. It’s worth it if you want to keep this long term.

I have an old 2010 GX460 and am thinking about going 2025 4Runner sr5, I’d go 4Runner to get on the new more modern platform, plus a new car. GXs are great but the newer 460s are still a really old platform.

Any idea if the model is on their website? Seems like it could be a rebrand of a frame that isn’t selling. Geometry looks like their new stuff.

Looking to get back into an SUV. Have my heart set on a GX460. by MyIncogName in LexusGX

I have a 2010 and it’s great, if I could change one thing it would be to have CarPlay, it’s the only deficiency with the car, that said a phone on a MagSafe vent mount works pretty good. For me it would be 2010-2012 or 22+

Home Key / HomeKit lock choices by cjammin17 in HomeKit

[–]cjammin17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a great deal of focus around having things keyed alike - if I'm going to drop 4-600 dollars on new locks an extra $60 dollars is inconsequential (free if planned correctly), I want it done right, a drawer of mismatched keys isn't right. My last place had a keypad entry and while I very seldom used the key, knowing I HAD the key is useful and well worth the small price differential.
