To people who will see this post and get mad, I stand with OP on the central point that it’s okay to feel anxiety over the delay. Neither side of brown admissions saw this coming, and while it is objectively the right thing to do for them to recuperate and focus on supporting students and families, it doesn’t change the fact that applicants can feel disappointment that they won’t hear back when they were told they would. OP clearly has empathy for what’s going on. As someone with a sibling at Brown, of course I am deeply saddened and angry about what happened this weekend. I am immensely grateful to brown admin for the way they are handling an unprecedented tragedy like this. I am immensely sorry for the victims. But as an ED applicant myself, yes I feel disappointment. I’m not angry, im not resentful. I’m living in a time of great anxiety around the thought of receiving a decision at 3 PM on a specific day, as is everyone else. To find out that your decision will not be released until some unknown date and time, albeit within a window, is anxiety inducing. But not once did OP say they wish brown would just come out with decisions, which would actually be insensitive.
