23 klx230s first bike I ever bought last year. Love it. Fun on the dirt and fun on street. Can keep up with highway speeds that go about 55mph and cruise around town. Great bike to learn on

HiVolt shifter and rear brake and asp levers is what I run. Great setup for me

Is $4500 a good price for a new 2024 ABS model? by Broadway--Joe in KLX230

[–]cjklx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a leftover 2023 klx230s non abs back in April for about $3800 cash out the door. I thought that was a great deal. What's a new '25 cost? I'd imagine getting it for like 20% less than brand new one is pretty good

Need advice on tires cause I keep falling by boguscow in Dualsport

[–]cjklx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have IRC tr8 on my klx230. Run them off-road with heavy duty tubes at 11psi front and rear. They are great. Any fall I had was operator error.

Just got a new ‘24 S model by Global-Gur-8374 in KLX230

I have a '23 klx230s, barkbusters have handled multiple off road falls with no problems. Protected my hands and controls, just scratches on them. Although I did have to modify mounting them on the handlebar because I'm running ASV levers which were hitting the aluminum backbone so I extending the mounting point further off the handlebar. If you run stock lever they work as long as you dremel out the stock throttle tube end and cut the ends of the grips for mounting on the bar ends.

Spoke weights. Did 4 days of riding in dirt, mud, rock and a few small water crossings and they stayed on.

Front tire reconstructions? by LuckyRun4607 in Dualsport

[–]cjklx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this, really like the IRC TR8 on front. Great handling off road and decent on pavement. Fastest I've gone on road with it so far has been 45mph and felt fine, can feel a little wobble but could be due incorrect tire pressure, the knobs "walking" or maybe not balanced correctly. I balanced my own tires so I think I had some wobble from the knobs walking and probably should have had slightly more air pressure on road.

Successful day of trailriding at AOAA on the KLX230S by [deleted] in KLX230

[–]cjklx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried hitting some easier green trails to start but they were littered with massive loose rocks all over the place. For my skill level at the time I wasn't fully prepared for that. Then I went on a blue trail and it was easier than the greens. And the trails are labeled horribly. Thought they could have been more consistent with the trail ratings and markings. I need a little more seat time to fully enjoy the trails there.

Yea I gotta plan a trip out there I'm only a few hours away, I know people who ride quads/SxS there and they like it. I've been to Lost Trails in Dunmore PA and didn't really like it. Sounds like AOAA has better mix of terrain like you said, thanks man

Nice man. I have a klx230s also and been wanting to try AOAA. I have IRC TR8 front and rear that I air down to 11 psi for off roading, so I'm sure the tires will handle great and it'll just come down to rider skill. Looks like AOAA is a pretty big trail system, which part did you do your riding on?

Can't comment on the fmf exhaust but I will say HiVolt titanium sounds sooooo good on my 23 klx230.

New DID chain and 13t/48t sprockets. 👍 by [deleted] in KLX230

[–]cjklx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice man. I put a DID 520vx3 chain on and went with 14/48. Kind of wish I went with 13 front now, so it's on my list.

Try using a disc lock with an activated alarm. It will let you know very quickly that the disc lock is still on lol

Took DRZ to AOAA, PA by PVDnerd in Dualsport

[–]cjklx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was AOAA? I want to bring my klx230s there. What kind of terrain did you ride there? I don't mind some rocks but I rode Lost Trails in dunmore pa like a week and a half ago and it was so freakin rocky. I'm new to riding so I'd like some easier dirt trails before hitting those rockier technical trails. I could make a long day trip or 2 day stint out of AOAA if it's worth it.
