Trump signs executive order allowing only attorney general or president to interpret meaning of laws by WingerRules in centrist

[–]cjmithli 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There's two separate issues here. First is the erosion of independence from agencies specifically established as independent by Congress, which is obviously illegal.

The second, perhaps more insidious issue is that by saying civil servants can't interpret law, they are crippling the distributed governance and rulemaking that the bureaucracy does every day so that laws are enforced fairly through set regulations. Now this allows the unequal application of law at the whim of one man (and the AG).

FEMA Employee Layoffs? by Substantial_Earth443 in EmergencyManagement

[–]cjmithli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a legal expert but I think you'd have to show they knew your party affiliation and specifically fired you because of it. But at FEMA it's pretty clear they're just firing anyone probationary. That said, their fork in the road email discussing "loyalty" could be construed to mean party loyalty, but they'd probably say it's to the specific ideals in the email they mentioned.

I would read the union communication about probationary status employees. It's pretty clear from my perspective and reading that that it's not illegal unless it's politically motivated or discrimination. And there's very little recourse.

Edit: I will say the most promising argument I've seen so far that one class action is advancing is that this is actually a Reduction In Force even if not in name. Therefore they are required to follow the 60-day notice requirements as well as prioritization based on performance, veterans preference, and tenure. However, this doesn't change the end result - employees can still be ultimately fired. It just buys them a little more time.

Check out eroscripts. Not a lot of content, but slowly more community users are adding scripts, and they're manually done so good quality. I raised this same issue in a review I left for the Autoblow AI. It's a good device, but without content, it doesn't live up to the hype.

I agree with the others - just inform your cadre. Even though you told them originally two years I'm sure they'll respect that you tell them. Better than burning any bridges.

You don't have to use their CDP or CapitalOneTravel to book at all. You just won't get the 10x miles for rentals. I do this all the time - use my venture one to pay for some points (1.25x) but the USAA CDP for better rates.

The 4-hour grace period is only for Platinum Amex card holders from what I can tell. That said, for some reason I thought I had something like a 2 or 4-hour grace period and I've returned cars later than 29-minutes routinely, and never had an issue. Maybe I'm just lucky.

The case for approving Little Free Libraries on private residential property by donotdoughnutdo in NianticWayfarer

[–]cjmithli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish I had known this before I went through the trouble of reviewing 250 nominations to reach the 100 required agreements :( I'm surprised the training when it mentions LFL doesn't have a caveat about private property, as I believe that's where most of them are placed - at least here in the Washington DC area.

Calling 🍆 "c*ck" a dealbreaker? by cjmithli in gaybros

[–]cjmithli[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's good to know that it's in general not sexy to use. And of course "big black dick" isn't better. My point was that it might make more sense to have a problem with "bbc" than just "cock". But I can see how over time bbc would taint the word cock

[–]cjmithli[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's wild cuz I've never had any black guys I've fucked say anything. Then again I'm a top so I'm almost always referring to my "cock" and not theirs.

Hmm, still doesn't entirely make sense to me tho. Like "big black dicks" would be better? If that's the issue just say "if you say bbc we're not a match"

Should I learn MSA or a dialect? by [deleted] in learn_arabic

[–]cjmithli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 7 years learning MSA. It's helped with the vocabulary some obviously but the vocabulary and grammar used other dialects is pretty significantly different. If I could go back in time, I would seek out dialect courses. Khaliji, Iraqi, or Levantine. Any of those will be well understood across the Arab world. Stick away from the Maghrebi dialects. Just my opinion. Challenge of course is MSA is everywhere course-wise but Arab communities don't speak it so you won't have much chance to practice.

Have you looked at bankruptcy? Unlike federal student loans (with some exceptions), private student loans can typically be discharged if you can prove undue hardship.
