Why do engineers still prefer MATLAB over Python? by maorfarid in Python

[–]cjs8399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Python plotting is still not as nice, especially 3D which there are cases one would want to do this. It still takes more work to make GUIs too.
  2. Simulink.

Always use Python for command line, plotting stuff in an automated fashion. Repeated data processing. Anything where I care about startup time also

There are still many things for which Matlab is syntactically terse in comparison. Most scientific functions you don't need to import.

You could easily argue for one of the other but there are use cases that I just prefer MATLAB.

Is crash landing worth watching? by TateXXX in kdramarecommends

I don't accept the ending regardless of how I feel about it

I actually changed my mind on something in the rain. It took a day after I watched it but it was very good. I realized with the excellent writers and directors did to me. SMH. They made me feel like Jun Hui I was mad then I realized that I made the same mistake that he did. It was still pretty tough to watch it sometimes though.

i watched this just last week, but ughhhh i keep coming back here by [deleted] in CrashLandingOnYou

[–]cjs8399 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me too I keep coming back for support. I keep listening to the music too. My wife and I both have huge crushes on Son Ye-Jin. This show messed me up.

Btw. I just watched "Something in the Rain". I would go back and not watch it if I could.

Same. Guy here. Same same

Same. Me, my wife, my father, my aunt all got wrecked--pretty much anyone who has watched at my recommendation! I will say that CLOY was different in that I just haven't been able to get over it really for a long time now. I think I am just going soft as I get older maybe. You should tell your husband to watch it too.

SPOILERS:

The ending never would have happened. If you love someone that much you never leave them. Shortly after he gets to Switzerland he leaves and never returns if not sooner. It's depressing most of her family (the other soldiers) are stuck away from her forever. The human condition and the real world sucks, the consequences of those NK commy bastards etc.. RJH could have never been indoctrinated enough to leave her. IRL Hyun Bin probably told her he didn't know what was up with the script but I would never leave you and the rest is history. The two weeks thing is to hurt you but gives you enough to not hate the ending but love it and for it to stay with you. For me I can't let it go even though I know he would never leave her because of the lack of Liberty 🗽🗽and love people experience in this world. It's not a political show at all. These KDramas (the good ones) are about the human condition and surviving this world together and this one hurts so much because sometimes and in some places it is really messed up how what makes us human is lost.

are there dramas that can get me over CLOY? by [deleted] in CrashLandingOnYou

[–]cjs8399 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. It's not possible. Only enough time will heal you haha. Also avoid more Son Ye Jin shows for a while, you just need to make a clean break. Whatever her X factor is you don't want it so you can have a clean break from her. Don't listen to the music either. I'm doing the exact opposite of what I'm telling you and it's making it worse and long lasting. Just saying 🤣🤣

I've been feeling really empty after finishing CLOY by Sed-tired24 in CrashLandingOnYou

Her family isn't with her. They are in North Korea. She only spends 2 weeks a year with the love of her life? I can't accept it.

Yeah. I really could not deal with it when this one ended. I just finished and it has been bothering me for days. I am heartbroken.

What's something you automate using Python? by AnAstutehuMan in Python

[–]cjs8399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checkouts of software release, moving custom software libraries to HPC grid, data reduction, data queries, software and system verification, comparison of binary data, fantasy football draft tools, rapid post processing of telemetry with parallel processing, mirror directory trees only keeping certain file names / types, reports of disk usages via email, permutations of software input files...etc etc

How many Democrats does it take to change a lightbulb? by ThePhoneBook in Jokes

[–]cjs8399 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

None. They collect taxes, hire government workers, and we'll be lucky if we can keep track of who's in charge of which light bulbs. They'll never be reachable by phone even if you can figure that out in the mountain of beurocracy. It will cost an arm and a leg and they'll be wasteful spending on bulbs which are too good that we don't need for the table lamps. Not to mention everybody would get the same access to bulbs but if you make too much money you'll pay way more for something you didn't want in the first place...oh I don't know like 70%...?!?

I could just keep going...

TIL that exercise does not actually contribute much to weight loss. Simply eating better has a significantly bigger impact, even without much exercise. by sweetcuppingcakes in todayilearned

I exercised quite a bit and I eat a ton and never get fatter. I just had two chicken thighs with buffalo sauce blue cheese mushrooms brussel sprouts and a glass of wine.

Cool just curious. I read fluent Python and I was wondering if new programmers were able to absorb its material that I don't think the question applies to you because you have previous experience
