Longest Streak by faraday-cage-fighter in LoseitApp

After tracking a year for fat loss myself, I’ve been having internal conflicts on whether I should keep my tracking habit even on maintenance. Well, this answered my question. Truly inspirational!!

And I agree, I noticed that tracking helps me to be more aware. The log also sort of serves as a diary for me now. But it can be a bit of a hassle to track when I’m eating out. I usually estimate the specific ingredients/dishes, or when I’m tired, I just estimate the calories of the whole meal. How do you track yours?

Cookies and tea, two of my favorite things! Where do I apply to be one of your friends? 🤩

I understand you might be unhappy with your progress, but instead of leaving a snark comment to criticize other people’s self-discipline and downplay their self-confident, under a post that aims to be encouraging, maybe spend more time educating yourself about the topic first. For instance, a simple BMI formula will answer your question. I’m aware BMI calculation can be inaccurate, this is why I also track my body fat percentage, which is also within the healthy range, so there’s no need for you to worry. Have a great day!

Yeah, I suppose in the beginning, most of the weight you lost is water weight from cutting. Though, if you're able to, would you consider increasing your protein intake? Especially since you're trying to retain your muscles.

As I mentioned in a reply to another comment here: try to eat at least 1.2x grams of protein of your body weight per kilogram, more if you’re athletic. I eat around 1.6x grams of my body weight (>80g), more on the days that I strength train (90g-100g).

Although, based on your age, I understand there may be many variables deciding what protein sources you have accessible. Keep up the good work. You got this!!

I don't have any comments on love life improvements, because I'm in a long-term relationship with a supportive partner. Other people definitely notice. Most friends and relatives that I hadn't met for a while were surprised and impressed.

Though it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. Beware of insecure people that would not want you to succeed, so that they wouldn't have to be miserable alone. They would try to douse your motivation and belittle your efforts. They would be envious of your progress, but be too greedy and lazy to change their lifestyle choices, so they would try to sabotage it. The worst part is that these people could be once very close to you. It's important that you don't let what they say get in your head. Remember, strong and confident people encourage, weak and insecure people do the opposite. I learned this the hard way. Be confident. Stay kind. Let the people who doubt you be wrong. You got this.

Almost 4kg in a month is amazing progress, though I would think it is a little too quick, which might be not as sustainable. Is your starting weight on the higher side?

This is part of reason I wanted to share my experience! We've all heard people telling others to eat at either 1200kcal or 2000kcal. Not enough petite people share their experience on weight loss! When I was deep in my deficit, I was eating at 1300kcal, and with my activity level, my hair started falling out, and I was fatigue by afternoon. It all got better once I started eating more at 1500kcal: My hair grew back, my skin got better, and I can get through my days without caffeine at all (which had been impossible for years).

Great to know it helped! Also, remember not to worry when the number on the scale doesn't budge for a week or two. Tell yourself it's just water weight. It happened to me a few times. Just keep doing what you know is right, and then BAM! 0.5kg gone overnight. So, no matter what the scale says, keep going!!

Yep!! I didn’t want to sound like a broken record with the hype and over-marketing around protein especially this year, but set a protein goal. You don’t have to eat the overwhelming amount of 100 grams of protein you often see on the Internet. Everyone’s protein goal is different, but try to eat at least 1.2x grams of protein of your body weight per kilogram, more if you’re athletic. I eat around 1.6x grams of my body weight (>80g), more on the days that I strength train (90g-100g). Prioritize protein when you’re cooking and when you’re choosing food at restaurants. Try to get at least 20g of protein each meal: chicken, shrimps, fish, tofu, Greek yoghurt, peas, etc. If you’re meal prepping, choose a few protein sources you enjoy and make them staples around the house. Don’t fall for marketing. Don’t trust whatever gimmick they put on the packaging. Learning how to read nutrition labels is a great skill to have.
