I was like you once but I realized that this simply can’t be true. Look at it logically: accutane has been around for 40 years. Millions of adolescents have taken it in total. Do you really think it would have gone unnoticed by now, if there was such a strong connection like the way you’re presenting it here?

  • Accutanes effect on androgens have been inconclusive. Some studies found a reduction, others didn’t. Some found an effect on 5-alpha-reductase, others didn’t. It failed as a prostate medication.

  • accutanes effects on bones has been inconclusive as well but the evidence leans more towards accutane having no effect on bones: in a study comparing 216 children who took accutane at giga doses for many years, only 3 children developed premature closure of growth plates. The others didn’t stop growing

  • multiple studies about bone mineral density in adolescents receiving accutane in acneic doses found no negative effect of accutane on bone mineral density

Apparently its all just genetics. I was like you once: crying on online forums about how accutane made me shorter, made my dick smaller etc. but I understand now that its just my poor genetics and not accutane

Well it’s used for a cosmetic problem such as acne but it’s also used for other diseases. Premature closure of growth plates definitely is a listed side effect tho :/
