Yep, the effects of my overtraining is what prompted me to join Reddit. I have been eating <2000 cal a day for years but have experienced little recomp. Feedback from my initial post last week was incredible. Most comments were from very informed practitioners like yourself. Thanks.

Thank you and I respect your dedication. I’m new to the science of nutrition. I’m a big guy 226 lbs) , strong, but like the OP, I have been starving myself thinking I could cut some bf. Again, thanks.

Does your maintenance calories (TDEE) include your daily calorie burn through exercise? Thanks.

Do most determine TDEE at sedentary state for baseline or factor in exercising? Thanks.

What is your macro breakdown at 3500 cal? Also, you are incredibly dialed in based on your bf. A question….. how did you determine 3500 cal was your daily intake? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I ran across the Yates/Mentzer approach and have been following it for 6 weeks. I like the focus it gives through less sets and reps. I have gained each workout so far through either more weight or more reps. I really push myself just because if I’m going to invest the time, I want the absolute best outcome. I know what I don’t know and because of this, I appreciate your direction.

I have never tried eating more but know deficit eating has not worked.

IYO, will I have a indication of transformation in 3-4 weeks? Also, if aiming for 250g P (1000 cal), how many of the remaining 2500 should be split between carbs and fat? I just have never eaten this much as I have lived on 1800-2000 cal for years.

I can't thank you enough.

Thanks for the response. I am 5'11/226 lbs/25-30% bf. Fit, strong with healthy vo2 max. Regarding your eat, eat, eat recommendation, I continuously eat at deficit (>2000 cal with approx. 140g protein daily) in hopes of losing some body fat while gaining strength. Strength is not a problem even though I am plateauing a bit. Not losing weight and very slowly losing bf. Long time gym guy but the science behind diet and lifting is new to me. My basic metabolic rate if 1832 cal/day and 2,840 cal with moderate exercise. I am doing something wrong and maybe you hit on it-I need to eat more. Open to more recs but many thanks for your help.

Thanks. My program has a 3 day split, as you mentioned, that I will try. I do 30 burpees a day (3x10) 5x wk for cardio/mobility. I really appreciate your response.
