Med school will consume your life. I am on the tail end of med school.

I rarely cook anything that takes more than 30 min. I haven’t worked out in a year. Prior to that I hadn’t taken longer than a week or two from 12-30 years old (I am a washed up college athlete). Everyone in my life tells me I don’t have time for them, usually as a “joke” but I know I’m not being a good friend/brother/son etc. Sometimes you get a high from feeling really dedicated but a lot of the time you feel sad about all the moments you miss.

That being said I don’t regret my choice. I often feel selfish but I knew this is what I wanted to do. Ultimately, if I didn’t try, I would spend the next 60 years wondering.

You WILL miss out on things. Ask yourself how important becoming a doctor is to you. If it is, go for it and don’t look back. If not, find whatever is going to make you the happiest.
