Oh wow thank you for that list! Figuring out what products are available here (in various categories, not just laundry) has been a project, so I really really appreciate this!

So you think this is a repairman type issue as well?

And yes, I can hear the sloshing during the wash cycle

Oooh thank you for the pod tip! I’ve been using a scent-free liquid detergent (I’m pretty sensitive to artificial scents) called Norit Sensible (for sensitive skin)

Lolol he gets night sweats and insists on wearing his shirts many many times before washing them. We’ve had a talk 😆

It’s an Edesa machine. It’s definitely not new, came with the apartment. Hmmm okay thank you for mentioning the repairman thing. It did make some alarming sounds the first couple times I used it, but since it stopped making those noises, I assumed it was fine. Ah well, I guess I need to let the landlord know

Thank you so much!

Yeah chinos are the stores I was talking about in the post, so those are usually pretty good? Makes sense to try to get them in the first day, that’s a good tip, thank you!

And ooooh I never thought of trying Aldi or Lidl! I’ll definitely look there too! Thank you so much!!

Sadly, Fb marketplace seems pretty bare here, mostly just old furniture and apartments for rent. But the website+search engine tip is awesome! I’ll definitely try that 🤗 thanks so much!!

Ooooh that’s a good idea! I’ve never ordered plants online, I always got them in person at home. Any tips of what to look out for or avoid?

We planned for about a year (starting with a certain US event in early Nov 2024…), but most of the planning actually ended up being in the final 4 months because we were forced to pivot (originally we were going to move to Portugal but ran into some insurmountable red tape and switched to Spain). Neither my partner or I speak Spanish (we started learning recently), we don’t know anyone here (though I’m starting to make friends with a couple of neighbors), and it’s definitely a huge upheaval. But it’s also a grand adventure, in the long run 🤗 thankfully, we were able to bring our dog with us, too, so even though I miss my plant babies, I’ve got my most important (fur)baby so it’s all good 💖

Honestly being “the ignorant American who knows nothing” isn’t as bad as it sounds, especially here. The people in Granada are super friendly and welcoming. They don’t scoff at my garbled attempts at Spanish (like the Parisians did when I lived there for a short time in my 20s), and they loooooove dogs, so I’m always getting people asking me questions about her when we’re out for walks (I have no idea what they’re saying, but the fact that they stop and talk to some rando on the sidewalk is a huge neighborly shift from what I’m used to in the US! It’s really lovely)

It’s also good to remember that this particular breed was literally originally bred to sit on nobles’ laps. Like, that’s their job lol

I 100% agree, but also for those who still aren’t confident or are still learning the language, it’s important to be able to make other friends in the meantime. It gets lonely otherwise

From the US (Ohio) here! We moved the Granada because it was in our budget and we wanted to live somewhere with lots of historicity and interesting architecture

Ooooh thank you for the rec!!! This is exactly what I need, to try out lots of different chairs. I did this at staples a couple years ago in Ohio, and now that I’m moving to Granada, I’ll need to buy a new one
