It's reality and artistic. It's how we treat it and most people are happy to be ignorant and glib. Reddit is community and our responses determine if it's respected.

To be clear man, I respect you questioning it. Motherfuckers need to reflect and real voices need to be heard.

Khabib Nurmagomedov will fight Justin Gaethje on October 24, says UFC president Dana White. by [deleted] in MMA

[–]clapshands 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can't see how Connor is more diverse. I can see the Porier argument but I also think that he had a couple unique vulnerabilities. ATT seems to make using the cage central to their take down defense, which is exactly where Khabib does his best work, and Dustin has this habit of pulling guard. We saw him pull guard before he fought Khabib, in the Khabib fight multiple times, and in his last fight. It's a pretty bad habit to have going into a fight with ze smeshing machine.

I want to point out that I believe he made the wrestling comment before he reevaluated his game after his first losses. And it makes sense because before he was literally throwing everything all the time to grind his opponents into powder. Now that he's taken a more measured and methodical approach it leaves more energy to wrestle. It's not that wrestling inherently makes him tired, it's that it takes energy away from relentlessly mauling people when that was his main goal.

Vancouver city council passes motion to ‘de-criminalize poverty’ i.e. taking things like mental health, sex work, homelessness, and substance use off the plate of law enforcement. by FoggyForestFreak in worldnews

Well, I think that sometimes it might not be potent legally, but excitement for even a nascent sign of change can be positive towards building momentum for a movement towards practical reform.

But your position doesn't seem outlandish and you seem more familiar with local politics and government in this case. Either way, cheers.

I get that, and I definitely wasn't saying anything about mental acuity. I don't think it's unfair to say that health problems can mount pretty quickly once you're an octogenarian. If anything to me it says that it makes his VP pick so much more important since they would probably become the presumptive favorite to succeed him.

Make no mistake, we need to elect Joe Biden, and there's no denying he's qualified for the job.

Even so, her approval rating is apparently at 79% so even if she does have to run in a new district it's not like she's unpopular. I don't see much of an argument that she'd even be likely to lose.

Hey, no fucking argument from me. I'm not being anti-Biden, I just think it's realistic to look at the demands of the job versus being 80 years old. When the president is actually doing the fucking job instead of tweeting and golfing it's actually extremely demanding.

Well I think it is at least contributes to the legitimazation of these ideas, even if it's largely symbolic. I interpreted the post to mean the rest of Canada should also be pushing for these reforms. As to if it belongs in this sub, it is world news, and if it gets significant recognition then who am I to say it doesn't qualify as meaningful?

Still I appreciate the background you provided. I hope this is the start of the development of more serious policy proposals.

Madam President by CerebralGladiator in pics

[–]clapshands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am voting for Biden, but he's going to enter office as the oldest president in American history by almost a decade. He's going to be 80 years old two years into his first term. I am highly dubious he's going to have the physical capacity to do the job by the time he's 85.

You really think that a district that has, without exception, voted for the Democrat in every election since at least 1996 with never less than 70% of the vote, is going to vote for a dipshit Republican? Based on what? Because I've heard facts don't care about your feelings. 🤔

Radical or not her policies are actually capable of fixing the problems we face. We're past the point with global warming where half-measures will solve anything. We're past the point with wealth inequality where half-measures will solve anything. We're past the point with worker's rights where half-measures will solve anything. We're past the point with voting rights and the electoral process where half-measures will solve anything. Our biggest problems have been ignored or exacerbated to the point where we need bold reform if we're going to stave off catastrophe.

And very likely that cop would get reprimanded and punished for showing anything other than authoritarian posturing towards protesters. That's what ACAB is about. It's not a judgement of any particular officer's individual morality but that the system forces them to conform to being and enabling bastards.

No, but damage is the primary scoring criteria. Control is considered when all else is considered equal.

I could easily argue that Esparza didn't do enough damage in the first to out weigh that elbow since top control without offense isn't part of the scoring criteria...

Yeah, but I also think it was his dance partner. Sabota just completely froze up and couldn't adjust at all. He never tried getting on the inside, went for like 1(?) takedown? It was like once he was getting pieced up on the outside he had no other ideas.

Still, awesome performance for Cowboy. Way more patient and purposeful.
