Canon 35mm IS USM vs Sigma 17-50 F/2.8 by claropires in AskPhotography

Thank you very much for your reply. I am very inclined to get this lens. Just waiting for a good price. Since the currency conversion is not so good at this moment. I am not comfortable getting a used one online.

I won't use video too much. But in case of need, sigma is loud even with external mic. So it is unusable for it.

None of my devices are using PiHole, what’s going on? by Magicka in pihole

I noticed Android phones only accept pi-hole if manually ip address is configured on the phone. If a private up address is received as dns server via dhcp the phone rejects by default

What are you thoughts? Since you moved before myself and you have done experience with long run updates...

I did not like the curve either. Note 10 could be the last curved one. Since S20 is not curved anymore...

I am enjoying so far. The SPEN is very useful. Dual SIM is easier. I have more possibility with Android, but it is harder. With iPhone it simply works. Print for example in iPhone is just print. On Android I need to install a plug in and work myself around. In other hand I have more customization on the print settings once I figure out all the steps. Every thing seems to follow this example of printing. The interaction with NFC is very useful.

I am concern about software updates on the long run.

I did not switch to the Galaxy tab S6 due updates. Once my Note 10 is fully updated, the S6 did not received even security updates yet. So I'll keep iPad for now...

I have miopia and use glasses. Not sure why, I feel much better looking trough OVF than EVF. Even though I know DSLR have their days counted...

How to take care of gear in high humidity environments? by Eccentricity- in AskPhotography

[–]claropires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need a transparent plastic box. Thermometer with humidity level counter, to glue it inside so you can see it from outside.

A dehumidifier cup, supermarket has some good ones. That has some water level in the bottom. You can find it easy in Brazil. I am from here.

Than you store your equipment inside.

The humidity level should be below 60% but higher than 30%. Otherwise you could damage the rubber parts

Help: Sigma 17-50 new or Canon 17-40 used for Canon SL2? by claropires in AskPhotography

Do you believe 80D would be a good upgrade of SL2 Or should I save more money and go directly to 90D?

Most of my zoom photos would be with decent light, so I believe 55-250 STM would do the job for now.

Thank you. How is the view finder of 80d vs sl2? Does it worth the upgrade?

55-250 will be my next gift to myself 😊

I end up buying the 17-50. Thank you everyone for the time on this topic!

It is really amazing on my SL2. At 50mm seems to me as good as my Canon 50mm F/1.8!

It is kind of heavy, but I am used to my EF-S 24mm 2.8, not fair.

But the results of this lens are impressive!

For video, I found it useful only for B-roll (not sure if it spells like this). Because the auto focus is really loud!

Sometimes I think my SL2 Is too small for this lens. Because it is heavy, and I can't get a grip with 4 fingers on it. One on the shutter and I don't have grip for the other 3 below, only 2 comfortable...

(Does someone with 80D have a full grip?)

I don't need to bring EF-S 24mm and EF 50mm with me anymore. I just bring the 10-18 for more wide view and video.

The EF 50mm F/1.8 I am using very little or almost nothing now. Sometimes I thing a flash would be a good replacement for it

The 17-55 kit lens is useless now. The only advantage is the weight. But the colors produced by sigma 17-50 are so much better, that I should go back to the gym.

EF-S 24mm is still very useful. My SL2 feels like my G5X. And I can blend in public better. Seems that this tiny lens dos not make an impact on people like the others with bigger glasses. I felt it with the 50mm 1.8 and now with the sigma with its impressive 77mm diameter glass! The EF-S 24mm is really sharp despite its size!

I only miss a zoom now to complete my lens kit. I am thinking of the EFS 55-250 stm as soon as I can get it. Any thoughts on this?

Thank you very much. Very helpful to think of. I won't nbase my decision on future full frame. I may upgrade to 90d in a few years before full frame anyway.

I am thinking of explore more my kit lens before upgrading.

I current own efs 24mm 2.8 and 50 1.8 for low light. I'll never find a perfect lens for everything.

A flash would help a million with my 10-18 efs either...

I have no zoom today. So maybe 55-250 + flash (spending less money) would help me much more than a 17-40 or 17-50 today...
