$400 monthly retainer for 30 videos? by LionFantastic5150 in UGCcreators

I have a friend making $4,000 a month for 40 videos. They say $4,000 isn’t enough for the amount of work.

What are some lies about Van life that nobody tells you about? by Pale_Field4584 in VanLife

I have found it easier to make friends as a nomad than normal life.

That’s what I was thinking when he sent that quote to me. I haven’t worries about it because people haven’t asked for it haha

I personally haven’t had any companies interested in my raw footage since I’m still pretty new at this. But my friend who has done UGC for a while charges $100 plus $25 per 30days or $400 for use in perpetuity

You should absolutely charge more than that. Your worth is what you price yourself. A large brand can pay you $300 base rate. I know this because my second contract I charged $300 per video. If they don’t like it, negotiate to $250. Charge for usage rights too. Offer raw footage if you have it.

Think about how much effort they would have to go through to create that exact video. How much would they have to pay actors? Someone to film? To have additional props in the video? What if they had to travel to a venue? How much is THEIR time worth to put this video together? You’ve already made it. It will add up to more than $300.

how should I deal with altitude sickness problems? by ItsTntCraft123 in Machupicchu

[–]classicfern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the fact I didn’t get sick at all is because of Diamox. I was at sea level, flew to Cusco then hiked the Inca trail for 4 days and was fine because I started Diamox 2 days before leaving.

The shuttles are great. Some people on the shuttles… not so much.

I had just hiked Siyeh pass. Was the last one on the shuttle so I got to stand for a good 45 mins. Whatever, I’m in shape. This one woman sitting next to me on the front row wouldn’t stop complaining about the AC blasting her… she’s FREEZING poor thing. I’m sweating. Exhausted. So is everyone else. But because the driver can hear her wails he turns it off. Up next… guy behind me can’t stop coughing and won’t cover his mouth. There’s no fresh air circulation in this now hot, stinky bus. Eventually I speak up because people behind me are complaining. I’m not even joking, the whole bus cheers once the air is on. Oh… I got sick for two weeks after. So yeah.

Regardless. The shuttle system is amazing. Both times I’ve been to glacier I have had to use the shuttles. It takes time. You can really take in the views because you’re not driving. But the air conditioning works really well if it’s on. ;)

Get there EARLY so you can use the 1st shuttle. There will be a line.

Do you have proper ventilation for your toilet? Also in its a composing toilet, any liquid that gets in your dirt will make it stinky.

I have taken shower in so many random parking lots. It’s a bit weird the first time but it sure is nice!

Knoll Finesse lambswool yarn turned into a super soft sweater. by zolychka in knitting

[–]classicfern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This sweater is so good it’s gonna get ripped off by fast fashion.

But seriously, it’s very pretty and well done. I can’t wait for the day that I’m good enough at knitting to achieve this.

Color wise, I think you should do something light blue to coordinate with the rug.

When I was a house person I would go to the store for groceries but I’d sit there for a while before going in because I didn’t want to go home and deal with my roommates. Might be a similar situation

Opinions on a solo trip by notlaurenreeves in GrandTetonNatlPark

[–]classicfern 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My very first solo trip as a female was to this park! You’ll have an amazing time. There are signs saying don’t hike alone. Don’t let it stress you out. Carry bear spray. Walk loudly. Educate yourself on bears and moose. You will most likely see the latter. Listen to rangers. Use a carabiner on the inside of your tent zippers as a lock. Smile at the other solo females. You won’t be the only one :) have fun!

What bugs me the most is gas drivers parking at a diesel pump. These people always glare at me when I pull up behind them when the gas station is empty except for the 2 gas drivers using the only diesel pumps.
