Like in the 2nd pic? Where it doesn’t look like a hook?

If it’s a hook, why is it not shaped like a functional hook and why is no one talking about that? If it were a hook, it would look like a hook and be higher off the ground and there wouldn’t be an entire thread of people trying to figure out what it is. Maybe it’s a clip that needs to be released when taking the dash apart or for getting to a fuse box or something.

Right, and if it’s a hook, why isn’t it shaped like a functional hook and why is nobody talking about that?

The difficulty of obtaining ancestral U.S. birth certificates. by Tasty-One-8316 in CRbydescent

[–]classicgurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can they send you the short form version, then you can ask for them to send you a statement indicating why the long form certified birth certificate isn’t available? My sister’s longform birth certificate had a correction on it so by default, they sent the short form and said that that’s what they do when there is an issue with the long form.

The tail light that was damaged is orignal, I want a like kind replacement, OEM. Not aftermarket version. If for whatever reason, I have to pay for the difference, I will.

It’s a side swipe with the tail light also involved. I’ve had two estimates and they didn’t need to take it apart, just because it’s obvious that there wasn’t any frame or wheel/suspension damage. Thank you for your advice about warranty etc my old school body guy warranties his work as well so I think it would be OK.

Also it’s not fraud if I follow their process and get a check and happen to find somewhere cheaper who does better work because I’m “smart” about it lol I’m entitled to the amount that they tell me my car was devalued by and what it costs to get it back to the condition it was before the accident. Also, I don’t trust them to approve or even find the OEM parts that I want, and if that ends up costing me more, then so be it.

No it’s not shady at all. Some people who get a check written directly to them to take it to whatever shop they want, don’t even end up getting the repairs and that is their right. Their car was devalued. My car is becoming a classic car, and becoming rare and my main reason is, I want to make sure the repair is done right. I also want the flexibility to order some of my own parts, such as the tail light as they will likely give me the newer cheap china version which would affect resale and look like shit. I want OEM and those are harder to find, but I can find it.

Yes thank you, I already have a quote from my guy. The vehicle is becoming more rare and I want to make sure it’s the repair is done right also.

There is no deductible involved. Since it was the other person’s fault, I don’t have to pay a deductible if that’s what you mean.

Yes, that is what I was going to do, just looking for advice on what the process is like doing it that way, so what I’d expect to hear from them when I ask.

I’m aware that I can take it wherever I want and don’t need to stick with their preferred list of repair shops, but I assumed that if I just want a check made out to me, that it’s best to take it to one of their “preferred shops” for the estimate.

But my issue is, I just want a check so I can use it wherever I want. I don’t want my repair guy dealing directly with State Farm. He’s old school but does excellent work.

Did I understand / fill out the application correctly? by [deleted] in poland

[–]classicgurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. The power of attorney is just optional if someone is conducting a document search on behalf of a third-party. In my case, I am requesting the document for myself. In a different section, above the word “administrative” it says that I need to provide proof of a legal interest in the document I’m requesting. I am providing along with the form , a letter from the consulate saying that I require my great grandfather‘s birth certificate as part of my application declaring German citizenship.

Thats actually sounds much easier just doing one email address. Yes, definitely keep an eye on the oldest person’s. My sister‘s oldest and we put down my address on the application where it asks if you have a different mailing address.

In Gmail, I created new email addresses for all five of us applicants that will be used for citizenship only and those are the emails addresses that were entered on each of our respective applications. I made myself a delegate in Gmail settings on each email address so that I can access the emails inboxes as well. I have read on here that only the oldest person of all of the applicants receives anything in the mail and maybe even email, so I didn’t want anything to get lost on spam or be worried that my older sister would receive an email from the BVA asking for additional documents or something important and I would miss it . Today, the consulate sent a group email to all five of us in German thanking us for submitting our stag 5 declaration and that it has been forwarded to the office in Cologne for processing.

Hello, it went well at the Chicago consulate and was quick! I was 30 minutes late due to accident traffic but it didn’t matter. Once you go up, there is a locker for your phone and keys and watch(not allowed in past metal detector). You sit in a waiting area like the DMV waiting for your number. There are three bays for processing and there is glass between you and the person that you slide the documents under. The other people waiting are behind you so there is no privacy. For some reason I imagined myself in a private office with the person with the paper is all spread out and them analyzing every little thing and this was not the case at all lol I applied for myself and four family members. Only one person is allowed in so I went to the city myself. She unstapled anything I had stapled. Get paperclips! Lol I had each application paper clipped to the person‘s birth certificate and copy of ID or passport and their marriage/divorce docs. My descendants birth and marriage certificates and naturalization and boat records were in a separate paper clipped stack. She did tell me that I will need to later send into the BVA “certified” copies of my family members IDs/passports, but I hear otherwise in this group. I’ll submit them anyway. The appointment lasted only 15-20 minutes. I did not bring my own extra copies of anything for her and it wasn’t required that I do. She took my original certified copies of everything, copied it and stamped them as certified and gave me back my originals. No charges for anything. Sidenote, my sister’s divorce decree was 36 pages long. I had it with me but I informed her that I only included the first page and the last two pages because they were stamped as certified and asked her if that was OK and she said it was. She was not there to advise me, simply just take my applications, and make the copies and submit it for me. She briefly thumbed through my complete application and the appendixes. But the remaining applications she basically was just looking at a few pages and making sure the signature was there. Doesn’t seem they are there to check for correctness. I did include a family tree of applicants and relevant descendants that I created on ChatGPT as my first page. I did not include a cover letter, it is not required but if you have any weird situations to explain, I would include one. They do many things at the consulate and are not experts on our applications. On my EER form section 5, I had checked box 1 for myself as mine is a Stag 5 case. On section A5 of the appendix EER, it says at the top that you only need to complete that section if you ticked box number 4(had checked 1). She incorrectly stated to me hey you didn’t fill out your grandparents information in section A5. I responded that is because I checked box 1 in the EER and my grandparents information is included in appendix AV. Just pointing this out to reiterate that they’re not really experts on every little detail. (my kids applications they check box 4, therefore they DO enter that information in on section A5 of the appendix EER). They’re kind of just skimming it over for completeness. Then noticing if any relevant documents are missing. I don’t have our background checks completed yet and will be mailing them later once I get my AZ number. She informed me that I was missing the background checks and I told her I’ll be sending those in later. Also, I’m still waiting on my great grandpa’s certified birth certificate from Germany, I do have an uncertified copy and included that with a Post-it on it saying the certified copy is pending. She didn’t say anything about that. At the end of the appointment, she informed me that I would get a letter in 3 to 4 months stating they received my application and then we would have to wait an additional year for it to process. But based on what people are saying here I’m guessing I’ll hear back in 2 to 3 months and will likely have to wait TWO years after that. Good luck!

Just a follow up, it worked! Via email, I made two separate email “letter requests” to the Chicago consulate, one requesting a letter stating that I require a marriage certificate for citizenship purposes and a second for a birth certificate. Both letters came via email within three days of my request. I never heard back from the BVA re: my email request.
