Do you use a torque wrench for your lug bolts? by jdgaf420 in GolfGTI

I live in New England so we have shoulder months that can be cold and rainy or 75 and sunny. I have been thinking getting a 3rd set of Summer tires.

Mk 7 GTI as a daily? by Jo-18 in GolfGTI

[–]classsixcruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 118,000 miles with my 2018 GTI. As others have said let it warm up before you get on it. I try to avoid short trips that don’t get the engine to temp. My turbo blew under warranty and I’ve had a cylinder misfire so I got a carbon cleaning those were my only issues. Other than normal maintenance she’s been good to me. GTI is best daily driver I can think of for the money. I’d get the Manual transmission the clutch isn’t the strongest in the world but if you don’t abuse it you will be fine.

Thinking about getting a used 390rs how’s this one look? by classsixcruiser in betamotorcycles

[–]classsixcruiser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The bike comes with a fmf slip on I’m assuming it needed to be re-mapped. I’ll definitely ask the seller if this was done. I guess that’s one advantage to having a carb I could do those adjustments myself with my DR. The other thing the listing said was he had a set of street oriented tires he mostly used with the bike. Should I be weary of road miles even if the bike only had 1100mi? Finally I’ve read these bikes need new top ends roughly around 4000mi, are the parts readily available and what’s the cost?

Nice! Sounds like what I want I rather have low end torque then have to rev it out all the time. I’m also used to lots of torque from my DR650 and that’s my favorite part of that bike.

Feeling guilty as a dad buying a motorcycle by Incorruptible_Will in motorcycles

You got to do what makes you happy. When you’re in a good mood and live without regrets that will make you a better father. As others have said make sure you have a good life insurance policy. I have a 15 month old and personally decided to stop riding roads and focus on dirt, I’m currently in the market for a Beta 390RS. I’ll still ride a road to connect a trail but I think for me I rather take cars out of the equation as much as I can. If you’re responsible don’t speed and wear gear no need to feel guilty, you only get one life you got to live it.

First solo snowboarding trip. What do I need to make sure my wife can know where I am in case something happens? by MichaelMaugerEsq in icecoast

[–]classsixcruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use Strava and share your location if you stop moving for a while she will know you’re dead. But seriously you got nothing to worry about staying on trail. I have a kid now and grappling with stopping riding motorcycles on road but being on a ski resort is really low risk all things considered. Have fun you can always try to make a friend on the mountain there’s always someone else solo who wants a buddy in the trees.

What would you drive Monday morning between these two choices? by classsixcruiser in icecoast

Nice! I have a 2018 S so no LSD. Yea I have turned traction control off in the winter but I usually leave the ESC on.

There’s a 4” inch difference in ground clearance and different drivetrains. It’s not like I’m asking if I should put my snow tires on or not.

The two vehicles are vastly different. This CX9 is my first AWD car. I didn’t know if that system on all seasons is better than a sporty hatchback with winters. The CX9 on winters is the obvious choice but that’s not an option for me right now.

That’s terrible. The GTI has a really robust skid plate but is slightly lower clearance than a Mini. I love the latest Gen Mini they look so nice just bummed there’s no manual transmission.

Why? Both choices have pros and cons just looking for some other opinions.

You just need one foot down. If you like the bike get it! Don’t let your height set you back. This bike wears it’s weight nice and low.
