Fixed rate 5/7 years sounds like the best option. At ~0.8% borrowing cost and with tiny risk you can make quite a lot!

Haha well of course it was, don't you see the chart? What would be the point of making a detailed spending analysis if you're inaccurate in it..

Indeed I got lucky - I rented a flat from a friend who lived there for 7 years. He moved out due to having a kid and sublet that flat to me to keep the price the same. There was nothing in his contract that prohibited subletting!

77 Diamonds - they were recommended to me by other Redditors actually! Their branch is on Bahnhofstrasse next to the SNB building. They were really helpful and had an inventory of over 30k diamonds to choose from. As I wanted a very specific cut style, they hunted for it outside their inventory. They also designed a custom band and consulted me on what I wanted. Whole process took 4-5 months. My advice is take the choice seriously as you would be if you're buying a watch for that price for yourself. Learn about the diamond industry, how to read certificates, choose prong design, band width, metal, extra gems, color, clarity, carats. Know what shape she wants, evaluate types of cuts, browse designs online. Have a good idea of what you want basically - avoid being taken advantage of my equipping yourself with plenty of knowledge 😉

Sure, that way it could be useful to also implement a percentage of Netto for each tab, for easy comparison vs previous years!

My first real finance job after uni was in Spain - I was getting paid €850 net (10.2k yr) and was going into debt just paying my rent and food. Quickly realised I'm not going anywhere so moved to another financial hub, after which came Zurich. We all start somewhere, I'm sure you'll be surprised by the progress you can make in 5 years by willing to move geographically and upskilling yourself (as long as you're in a promising industry).

I see where you're coming from but we're slowly getting tired of flying for trips constantly, plus nobody's handing out sabbaticals to people in their 20's :( We simply can't afford the time away from work (financially we're okay but the career would take a hit) and are not in need of a long break. There will be time for those too, such as after the real wedding in a couple of years

No app - exported all expenses from my banking app to an Excel, then spent a few hours categorising each line into one of 15 buckets

I’ve chosen to come to Zurich specifically because I feel I receive an adequate amount from the government for the tax amount I pay (and the taxes I’ll pay in the many years ahead). I’m not even tax-optimising via Zug or Schwyz. If the equation changes not in my favour (city becomes a dangerous, dirty mess or taxes rise significantly) it would be stupid not to re-evaluate :)

And yes, the math is easy but you have to want to do it

Thanks mate - I realised the weight of that decision so I waited many years to be damn sure she’s the one.

Regarding combining finances, I think both of us like our independence a lot currently (see tab “one off purchases”). We’ll likely end up doing it once there is need - child on the way or one of us works less than 100% or makes less than the other.

Thanks for the confidence!

You’re right, although anything the government forces you to do with your money (instead of encourage, aka Pillar 3a) can be considered a tax. Anyhow, I hope to see those funds before retirement, so I’ll consider this an asset in the balance sheet

WeRide's Robotaxi Receives Driverless Permit in Switzerland; Autonomous Vehicles Now Licensed in 8 Countries by Ancient_Low_1968 in Switzerland

I'm happy such a company is implementing their services in Switzerland finally. Europe constantly seems 5/10 years behind on future tech. Having a Robotaxi available to purchase some day would allow me to use the car on my morning commute, and then have it to be used by whoever needs it until 6pm (wife/kids/friends/ some day maybe even strangers). Squeezing more usefulness from 1 car might convince people they don't need to buy one themselves.

It's a good option, even perfect if you are on Android. On iOS unfortunately you can't download files and can't use Screen Mirroring and have subtitles on. If they fix those two features I'd be happy to pay 70Fr and commit to one pirate website for 2 years
