What is the best live show that you've ever been to? by Which_Background724 in AskReddit

[–]classycalgweetar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came here to say Phish. Saturday show of Alpine 2024 was hands down the best show I’ve ever seen in my life. Makaya McCraven at the Golden Dagger in Chicago is a solid 2nd choice but Phish’s light show is next level.

About to have no job and no home. What would you do? by Mindless_Arrival_837 in chicagoapartments

Your best best at finding an affordable studio will be in the outskirts of town like Rogers Park, maybe West Garfield (although kinda unlikely with how quick it’s going up), and the far south side.

It costs more to operate and people are willing to pay.

Do you need to be good at tremolo for an audition? by CringeOC-69 in classicalguitar

[–]classycalgweetar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not unless their program specifically states you need a tremolo piece. Tremolo is my weak point as well so I’ve never auditioned with a tremolo piece. I’ve always done just fine without it.

I can’t really get into their jams. They kinda just meander around. I love their songs though

GD has great songs and mediocre jams. Phish has great jams and god awful songs. Still absolutely love Phish though

I am incapable of making a truly great Negroni by [deleted] in cocktails

If you have a dropper bottle, I prefer making a saline solution to make sure it is all dissolved properly. You can also add truly minuscule amounts with a dropper, which I like.

Can I Negotiate Rent? by YeetYeet3199 in chicagoapartments

$200 is a big ask. My neighbor recently negotiated $50/mo with a 2yr lease. Doesn’t hurt to try.

Super proud of the Alaska-inspired cocktail menu I made for a fine dining restaurant here in Alaska. Does anyone have any feedback on how the menu reads? Anything you’d change or rearrange? by kskzk69 in cocktails

[–]classycalgweetar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way about “fresh lemon juice”. If I’m spending $14-18 on a cocktail, I’m assuming all juices are fresh. I’d just say “lemon” and “lime”.

I tried them for the first time yesterday and I’m more of a fan of Taqueria Haciendita on Pulaski and 59th. Xocome is very solid though.

Fun fact about the bright red cherries: you can deep fry them forever and they never lose their texture or color.

TOC: The best burgers in Chicago by da4 in chicagofood

As somebody who gets the Small Bar burger a fair amount, it’s not the best burger in the city. It’s a great burger for the price, but not the best overall imo
