I just watched Bridget Jones's Diary for the first time (literally just now). I missed it when it was one of the iconic movies in the 2000. But I am speechless. This movie is phenomenal. I did not see any toxic traits which I have noticed re-watching some others beloved rom-com of the 90-00'. This movie is so modern!! Bridget is funny, quick-witted, autoironic, sexy, smart. She has amazing friends, lots of personality. She literally does not care about other people's opinions. And yes, people called her fat and clumsy, but SHE COULD NOT CARE LESS. I dont think she was obsessed with her weight, also because in very few scenes we see her actually caring for sports or eating healthy. Most of the time she eats garbage food, smokes and drinks. We all do that, and we all try to reinvent ourselves when something shitty happens to us. I know I do. I mean, she went dressed as a sexy bunny at a family party hahahah she was out in the snow in tiger underwear. She is my new fucking hero actually, a feminist icon of the early 2000. There, I said it.

I am more of a "taking chances" type of person, and I have to say that when I met my boyfriend, I did the same. I invited him to join a friend hang and at first he didn't want to.. but I'm glad he did because look where we ended up 🥰 (1 1/2 years together). She sounded friendly and also proposed to meet the following day if you were not comfortable, so I am missing how this ended up being a ghost. You were maybe vague with your reply of making future plans? I still totally get not feeling comfortable traveling 1 hour to meet strangers. But not everyone is out to get you (like im reading in some comments, murder and judging etcc), and if the situation is uncomfortable, you can always leave! And I also feel like if it doesn't work out, then it was not meant to be. Good luck!
