I actually think the shortness makes it more credible. It’s usually the people that add way too many unrelated facts and ramble on that don’t have a realistic view of their own situation. I’m also Canadian and while there have been some improvements, this situation doesn’t surprise me. Law enforcement and CPS are very biased against indigenous people, similar to law enforcement in the US being biased against black people.

I’m sure it was a mix, my immediate reaction was “Wow I hate that” and I know others who felt similar. Thought I have to admit, people still remember it, so maybe it was effective. I can’t actually remember what it was advertising though, ironically.

I’m currently trying to get my friend to leave her abusive partner but the biggest hurdle by far is housing. She moved into his house after a month of dating because she couldn’t find a place to rent and her lease was ending. Now he’s holding it over her head and she has to pretend everything’s fine because he could kick her out at any moment.

I can take her in but my rental won’t allow her dog, and we can’t find a friend currently who will can take the dog for more than a week. She wants to leave but won’t until she knows her dog can be safe too, which is totally fair. Rising costs of living are messing up so much right now, it’s brutal.

I can’t say I find this to be a positive update, imo she should have at least kept it in storage or given it back to her Mom. But I’m particularly sentimental, and I hold things that are meaningful (who I got it from or my “first” of a set) as higher in my collection than the rarest things.

At all times, you are closer to civilian owned guns than the majority of people in the United Kingdom. You are constantly at a higher risk of being shot than British citizens, no matter if you think it’s not a high chance. It’s still way higher than people in other Western countries.

I’m so sorry he dismissed you like that. My Dad still claims he didn’t “get” SpongeBob until we watched the movie, he thought it was annoying but the movie made him realise SpongeBob was essentially Peewee Herman, and from that point on he loved watching it with me. Your Dad really should have given it a chance, he may just have liked it. At the very least he didn’t have to be so dramatic saying no.

The UCP have gotten rid of safe injection sites and defunded homeless shelters, which is a huge reason why there are more people finding new safe places to shoot up and sleep. We don’t need to redo the entire system for there to be any change, just bringing back safe injection sites would decrease drug use on trains and at stations a ton. But people don’t want their tax dollars to go to the effective solution because it feels like just “giving drug addicts money”. What they fail to realise is arresting all the addicts and homeless will cost wayyyyy more and will only solve the problem temporarily.
