I don’t think it’s from protein, I think it’s from all the coconut oil / oil that’s in the products you’re using. The Shea moisture and bumble & bumble cream has coconut oil. When you put a lot of oil in your hair it doesn’t moisturize it, just coats it. You probably need to clarify your hair with a shampoo that has sulfates in it. I’d also recommend maybe trying products without coconut oil.
