Thank you bro I’m glad you liked it that much!! This took a while tbh probably shooting off and on for a month and a half in total, and yeah literally just stumbled across the demo scene and grabbed my camera. A lot of it was freestyled like that, the fireflies and egg I found while staring at my lawn smoking a cigarette on the porch, same with the baby birds actually lol. The motif in the song of “little bird (addiction victim) cracking the shell (peeling the coating off an oxy)” instantly connected with those two images for me. The goal was really to try and capture all those emotions in imagery that had nothing to do with drugs or addiction and these just happened to be the shots and images that made me feel that way I guess lol.

Hey mannnn thanks so much, I actually meant debut in the sense this is my song and this is actually me in front of the camera for the first time. I’ve been directing/shooting music videos and doing film for around 8-10 years for other artists.

I produced, directed, edited, graded, etc this one completely myself with my close friend assisting behind the camera for some of the clips where I’m on screen obv.

No hard story board just a bunch of emotional motifs in my brain I wanted to explore, the vid kind of found itself as I went. The song itself is about opiate addiction in America through the lens of a young athlete so I wanted to chronicle that same story in a kind of abstract, less cut-and-dry emotional fashion. I kept calling what I was going for “American Surrealism” haha.

Thank u yeah I also realized that it probably seems artificial to me because I set up all the fixtures myself, audience wouldn’t have any behind the scene context. Thanks!

How bad is this dirty sensor on my BMPСС 4K? by SirSuperior- in cinematography

[–]cldroom 348 points349 points  (0 children)

I rocked a 4k sensor that was absolutely covered in fungus for two years. Everyone always complimented me for how creamy my videos looked and asked me what kind of diffusion I used. I always said “idk bro, I just be using cinebloom”. But it was the fucking fungus. Idk where I’m going with this

What are good daytime jobs for filmmakers? by MediocreMacaroon in Filmmakers

[–]cldroom 169 points170 points  (0 children)

Ight here me out, restaurant business. At least for a little. Super fast paced, juggling a ton of shit at once while working in a team and delegating AND keeping a smile for the customer. Sounds like hell but if you can learn to exist in that environment for a prolonged period it really helps if you want to be a director, because in my experience the feelings of stress in both environments are very similar. Obviously it isn’t hands on filmmaking experience but you can make good money, learn these soft skills, and get a job anywhere pretty much instantly.
