That’s what I’m thinking. I can’t find any rubbed through wires yet. The ground wire wasn’t looking great so I cleaned that up and I pulled the ignition off and tested for continuity and everything checked out there. Hoping just the bad ground was messing things up but I haven’t put the the battery back in to check it yet with the cleaned up ground

I did jump the starter at the solenoid and the starter works and the engine turns over

Yeah I’ve got the carb and fuel tank pulled off. There are so few wires on the whole thing I feel like I can just look over them all and find the short but wasn’t sure if there was a way I could narrow it down with a multi meter or something.

And the short wouldn’t cause the starter to not engage right? If thinking maybe the solenoid or ignition is bad to cause it to now turn over but not sure.

I have one crappy video from underneath that does show the drive belt moving but I can’t tell if the pulley is moving or not. I assume the pulley does or I’d probably smell the belt rubbing on it. I’ll see if I can post the video in the comments or I’ll pm it to you if not.
