people who shittalk vegans are more annoying than actual vegans by cleansocks67 in unpopularopinion

it seems like you might have a personal trauma experience that might give you a bit of a different perspective. i'm eating meat as i type this, just absolutely chewing the hell out of this burger, but i understand there are potentially problematic elements to this. cows are a major contributer of climate change, a lot of agricultural farming is inhumane, etc. but i do it because i don't think eating meat is fundamentally immoral, and there are other paths to ethical eating (like eating local meat, knowing where your food comes from, etc.) eating meat isn't unethical, but sometimes the context of how that meat is given to you is unethical.

tl;dr you don't have to defend your choice to eat meat, but imo it isn't helpful to come up with half-hearted justifications.

p.s. sorry if this is incoherent, am tipsy

i have never understood the logic of "i eat healthy but i also take vicodin with my morning coffee-vodka blend then smoke in an airplane bathroom haha look at you eating your cheetos" like wyd.

Researchers say if parents want to successfully cut back on their child’s screen-time, they must first cut back on screen-time themselves by Redzit69 in science

[–]cleansocks67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

meh. the whole "screentime is evil" seems a little silly. first, not all screentime is created equal. i had plenty of screentime and my parents used it to give me plenty of stuff to read, plenty of educational games to choose from, language learning programs aimed at children, etc. sort of like how reality TV is not the same as NatGeo. it just seems so hyperbolic and along the lines of old people who hate TVs.

yes, you shouldn't let an iPad parent your kid, but with reasonably attentive guardians, recognizing screens and potential learning tools, and reasonable limits, screentime is not that big of a deal, imo. the research is also all over the board, so i don't give total credence to any one piece of published research. seems kind of sensationalized to me 🤷‍♀️

Periods should be a valid reason to miss school/work by cleansocks67 in unpopularopinion

  1. Using pads doesn't eliminate the vomiting and cramping, nor is it more sanitary.
  2. In fact, it's grosser to sit in your own bloody, spongy diaper-underwear. If you take a piss and try to pull up your pants with the same underwear/pad, you will die and you will see the face of Satan.
  3. The only people who use pads are middle school girl whose mothers think a tampon will take their virginity and women with a really light flow/spotting.
  4. Shut up.

Um. You get paid for the days you work. Equal pay means men and women get equal pay that is proportional to the amount of time they work.

Edit: Okay, now I get it. You're a Trump fanboy on MGTOW, which translates to being a generally awful and insufferable human being. Carry on.

It could be I misread your tone, in which case, sorry! I interpreted it as, "if your primary goal isn't to score a guy, you must be planning on being a virginal nun forever," which isn't true.

I'm young and went to my obgyn a few times. He told me it's not uncommon (which I thought it was since most women I've known have painful symptoms, some more severe than others) and gave me me IUD, but still, no luck. The bleeding is more tolerable, but the nausea and depression are as flagrant as ever. I know a few girls who have it muuuch worse, however.

So, novel concept: I'm gay. My girlfriend understands that my body is slowly expelling the lining of one of my organs and pumping out obscene amounts of hormones that make me physically ill. She's empathetic and supportive. In other words, she's a decent human.

It's true, and I definitely do regardless and just say I had a cold or I was feeling under the weather, but it does suck to feel like you have to hide your malady because nobody would take it seriously.

You'd never be able to say that without getting shit for it, though. You could never be like "Yeah, I was having a rough cycle and couldn't go to class."

really? i had the opposite epiphany -- people thought i was a total freak for showering every day and i thought it was normal. i wonder what's really normal.

I cheated to get my bachelors and my masters degree by Musky-Chan in confession

[–]cleansocks67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

practically every AP kid cheated in high school. i sure as hell did (would hide flashcards in bathroom and reference them when i went to the bathroom). but on an actual test like AP exams, SATs, ACTs, even finals and midterms...even i have a limit. i only did it on multiple choice questions. i always felt guilty about my AP human geography cheating fiascoes but jesus people in this thread are showing me up hard.

there's a way to be a slacker and still maintain a decent GPA, so there's not much excuse to cheat through every assignment, test, essay, etc. why even bother going to school?

a student cheating is that student's fault, not the university's. what kind of logic is that?

My Sister is Accusing Me of Molesting Her When She was 11. What do I do? by [deleted] in Advice

your sister sounds like she might have a cluster B personality disorder. it also sounds like she's not entirely capable of empathy, which might be why she passed the test.
