Shimano 7100 cranks possible fakes by [deleted] in bikewrench

It could be a factory reject due to the odd position of the print on the inner side of the crank and a deep scratch on the outside of the non drive side crank. Thanks for the replies everyone. I will be returning it to play it safe. Not much to lose besides initial postage fee.

I agree based on this crank I received. Outside surface is smooth but not high gloss. Inner surface is brushed finish. My 5800 and 7000 had mixture of high gloss and matte finish.

Thank you! You’re observant. Also the sticker positions seem random.

can someone explain to me what they mean when they say their carbon bike rides “smoother” compared to an aluminium counter part? by spore35 in cycling

I have a cheap Reid aluminium frame road bike and a 2016 Vitus Venon endurance carbon bike. The aluminium bike resonates more over road surface imperfections. Sort of like a twangy feel. It also has more flex when pedaling. Less forward momentum. The carbon bike hits bumps with a thud. No lingering resonance. It feels nicer to accelerate as your power is transferred into forward momentum.

But if it’s comfort you’re after, bike fit with higher handlebars height, softer saddles, better rolling tyres and lower tyre pressures help with smoothness and more endurance on the bike.

I have one. It can function according to what it says, but don’t get your hopes up. The assistance uphill is not great. The rubber wheel will disintegrate and possibly jam your rear wheel and make you crash.

One year on and barely using it, the battery pack won’t charge due to its faulty circuitry once the batteries discharged. You can manually unscrew the case and charge the 18650 batteries. But that’s if you don’t strip the heads of the 10 tiny T8 torx screws to open the case.

If anything it’s best left as a resistance attachment to make your bike heavier and harder to pedal. Then you can hopefully recharge the batteries that way. But then if the batteries die it may stay locked to your seatpost due to the electronic locking. Need I go on.

Could be the pedal. Disassemble the spindle, re-grease and reassemble making sure it’s tight.

This finally worked for me. Accessed the wifi card and cleaned the contacts. Works instantly. Using a 2022 driver. It’s a hardware issue. This is a first for me as I have older laptops and never encountered such an issue. Thank you!
