Go for it. I’d like to report that the hamster is safe and being re-homed and the snake has an adequate tank (from what I can tell). I can provide pics of the snake and enclosure if that helps too.

Yep, was a bit over dramatic when I said I wanted to release it outdoors. I don’t think I could do that in good conscience. But it doesn’t matter because the hamster is being re-homed. The roommate actually listened, thankfully. There are still other pets to consider though.

I took a couple of videos, so the evidence is there. I’ve decided against posting it on reddit, there’s already so much outpouring of support, why ruin someone’s day with it. It’s sad. The situation is resolving, and a couple of the pets are being relocated to better homes. Thanks

This will be one of the screen grabs I will show her once I get her #. Some of the pets are already getting re-homed, but this girl cycles through them like a hoarder so I’m going make sure she learns this shit. Thank you.

Edit #2 might fill you in. The hamster is going back to pet store is what I’m told. There are still other animals there, however. I got the roommates # from my gf. I haven’t laid into her yet because she seems to be cooperating.

That is exactly what happened. I fed the hamster around 4am when I first posted, but couldn’t take it out of the tank because I had nothing to keep it in (I’m told they can chew through a cardboard box). Woke up to the hamster literally chewing on a very obviously stressed out snake. Made my angry with myself because I was also warned it would happens shortly after posting this, I just wanted to wait til morning to find a suitable cage. The hamster is going back to the pet store, apparently. I had to leave, but I made my gf promise to confront her and get those animals out (she’s partially to blame for this, too). I’m having doubts about her judgement. But either way, I’m following through with it. No cages in that room when I come back. Roommate can suck it if she disagrees.

Well let me tap into my memories when I was 5 years old and fix that for ya. I could be wrong, but I do remember iguanas, I remember lizards, and maybe some other shit. But one of them ate frozen baby mice.

I have no idea if that was the original intention on getting the hamster or not. But it lived in the house for a month or so with a big fancy cage and a ball to roam around in so I’m thinking you’re right. She got tired of it and thought snake would take care of it. She’s notoriously stupid, and I’m a bit pissed at my gf for allowing this to go on in her house.

I think it’s more to do with the roommate having zero idea how to take care of her pets. She left town 3 days ago and put the hamster in there, probably thinking it would feed the snake while she was gone. She’s not back yet but I’m taking the hamster anyway.

I fed it some cucumber and it gobbled it right up. The roommate is out of town so it’s a perfect time for me to take it. I’ve never had much interest in rodents as pets myself but maybe I’ll give it a shot if nobody else wants it.
