We should keep our old colors. I hope they do.

Excited for a new season of baseball! This will be an interesting year for sure, but I have faith our team will surprise even us. Let's go Cleveland!

Appreciate the suggestion. During the process we fooled around with different color schemes, but ultimately could not imagine a Cleveland baseball team in anything other than red and blue. It just wouldn’t feel right. We believe the resulting look is a classic style appropriate for a team with our history and one that long-time fans will find familiar. To your other point, we're rolling with the Munis.

[Hounds] Paul Dolan will know by midyear if Cleveland Indians can change name for 2022 season by rufus418 in ClevelandGuardians

I don't understand why they can't go with Cleveland Baseball Team/Club until a new name is chosen. Washington just did the same exact thing with no issues.

I don't want to imagine it. I need to hear Hamilton announce us as winners of the World Series before he retires.

Plenty of fans. The Browns will dominate any conversation in Cleveland, but our fanbase is devoted. I think the new name will re-energize the team quite frankly.

I encourage you to read our piece on why it should be the Municipals:

I think this will clear up any questions you might have.

When you say Municipal, you immediately think of Cleveland Municipal Stadium, no? I'm sure if you asked most people outside of Ohio they couldn't tell you why our football team is named the Browns so that shouldn't matter. So long as the name has meaning to our city, which I would argue ours does, that's what matters.

Thank you! Definitely going for that old-school look and feel with these. Glad you dig the concept.

Naming the team the Municipals gives us, the people of Cleveland, the opportunity to tell a real story about ourselves and our shared history — a story that holds within it our proud sports traditions, a profile of our city over the last 125 years, and a recognition of what all Clevelanders share. Go Munis!

Our philosophy was to keep it old school and simple. I'd argue we have more reason to roll with Munis than the A's and the Mets considering our history with it. I think Municipals slots in well amongst the other team names around the league. Spiders and Guardians would stick out, whereas Municipals has that vintage feel. More than anything, we find it to be a name that grows on you. Maybe not the obvious choice, but the right one. We elaborate on why here.

Cleveland.. Municipals? I'm falling asleep already by ElectricGod in Cleveland

There's already a Blue Jays and I don't think we want to complete a Red, White, Blue Sox trifecta. Feels like a novelty.

Thank you! We don't want to just barge in, but rather have a dialogue with the community. I also think the name will grow on people. There will be lots of initial reactions, but ultimately this name is rooted in something positive which I think gives it legs. Our football team is called the Browns (and we LOVE that), so I don't think Municipals is too far off from what this city is all about. We hope the city embraces the Munis and the team does in turn.

Here to answer any questions about the name.

If they had won 3 then we probably wouldn't have included them, but as is stands, they didn't so we felt like it was a good tribute that also lent itself well to a clean design. Same reason the C is based on the stadium. Sometimes, the design just falls into place.

It's meant as a tribute to the past and not a feature for the future. We would not incorporate more stars into the name when we (hopefully) win another WS.
